Super friendly staff all around - Front desk lady was super welcoming. Extra super shoutout to the entire bar and restaurant staff - my 8 year old nephew was traveling with us and he has a severe gluten allergy. The entire restaurant staff was super accommodating and took extra special attention to make sure there was no cross contamination. Thank you so much!!!

My son and I stopped here on our way to visit friends up North and considering it was just a random pick, I'd say we hit the jackpot! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the restaurant food was AMAZING (and we each had enough leftovers for another entire meal!), the beds were super soft and comfortable and the room was CLEAN. Regarding the rooms, the one we got was just a regular hotel room, obviously wasn't super modern in styling but for the obvious age of everything, I can honestly say I've stayed at new resorts that weren't as clean as this room was! As a family with multiple types of allergies I always get a little nervous when staying in an unknown hotel but the Skyline Lodge was homey, comfortable, and a truly relaxing environment!Rooms: We had a basic room with two double beds. They were extremely soft and comfortable with plenty of pillows for each bed. The toiletries in the room had a very nice, light fragrance. The heat worked wonderfully and it was a very comfortable and cozy stay!Food & drinks: The bar/ restaurant on site has AMAZING food with good prices for the amount you receive. (My son got shrimp Alfredo and rated his food a 5 star meal haha!). You can dine in or carry out.

I would say we were there in the off season so there were a lot of road construction people staying there. The restaurant/bar was closed as well. Nice place to sleep for the night though.

The location was perfect for a Winterplace weekend. Located right outside the resort at an affordable price. The room was basic with the normal amenities; refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and a wobbly sitting table. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Really like that room had full tile floors, no nasty carpet. The only downside was no hot water after a day of skiing, a full house and their boilers can't keep up. And I would recommend you stay on the second floor so you can't hear the patron above you walking across the floor all night.Safety: The desk clerk notified patrons as they were checking in, not to back into the parking spaces next to the building, as many people will start their cars to warm them in the mornings the exalts fumes carry.

Really, my only issue is with the service, but I refuse to give them any credit. It's probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'd rather sleep in the snow.

Adequate room but cool water shower at 9:30 pm after a long day wasn't fun!

Both times I stayed at Skyline Lodge (within a year-and-a-half), the staff was always courteous and helpful. Most recently, we found that they had replaced the bedroom lamps with more modern units. Our room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. My only complaint is that the water pressure in the shower was weak. Overall, I'd be happy to come back again.

Very poorly maintained property, it was all icy stairs and parking lot I was about to slip and fall. On top of that they gave me a corner most room farthest from the lobby I had to carry all my stuff through the lobby stairs and out in the cold because it's a very slippery parking lot and stairs, they should have put some salt at least.

Definitely will be back! We came up to Ski at Winterplace & the room was conveniently 3 minutes away from the Ski Resort. For the price I paid I’d give it a 5 star!

Planned a family trip for skiing at Ghent WV, made reservation for a pet friendly room, arrived at 12:45 pm and were told not allowed to check in until 3pm, asked a place to change to squeeze in some skiing till checkin time, the man suggests us to use a non-hygienic bathroom for changing into several layers of thick snow attire, which was not feasible. Since the ski resort closed at 4 pm and we were not allowed a hotel room until 3 pm, we were forced to cancel our plans for the first day, disappointed to have to miss a third of it.Waiting at the lobby, decided to arrange the ski passes etc for next day and stepped out not to disturb anyone. When done went inside and found my kids, asked them where their mother was and found out that the manager had gotten verbally aggressive with my wife and was pointing his finger at her saying that this wasn't a place for babysitting dogs. She tries her best to apologize and takes the dog outside, find out that she has been sitting in the car 20 - 25 minutes in the freezing cold car with dog, children in the lobby, I was shocked that he spoke to her that way, especially in front of my children. The way he treated her was unacceptable and disappointing for a place that was supposed to offer a relaxing atmosphere. We are happy to follow the rules, but there was no reason to publicly berate and humiliate her. When I confronted the man at the front desk, he said that there was a sign that said dogs were not allowed. This made no sense because I had specifically requested a pet friendly room and he replies "Fine then."Still upset the way he treated my wife and I ask him why he was so rude to her. He never apologized, but rather abruptly, escalated his rudeness by telling us to leave the premises, and that he didn't think we were going to be happy here, but that he would refund our money. This was very bizarre, as all he had to do was say he was sorry for being unkind to her. It made me feel that maybe he had other personal issues and was taking his anger out on us.I am shocked and confused. Why does he want to throw my family out after he was the one that instigated an overly aggressive confrontation? There is no way I can find another room on short notice, in a state we are not familiar with, while it is freezing. Now he says he is going to call the police on us and insists that we leave. I am scared that the police are going to think that I did something wrong, and I did not want the officers to think I was running away from them, so I also called the police. The officer on the line basically told me that there was not much he could do to help me since it was between the business owner and me. So, we did not have a choice but to be kicked out.I did ask him to speak to a manager at one point, he said he was the manager. I asked for his name and phone number and he refused to tell me anything. He was a bald guy who was roughly 35 or 40 years old.My vacation is ruined, my family was cold, I missed out on a ton of skiing. The only other place we could find to stay was 30 miles away and it includes a toll booth en route. To summarize, I still did not receive a refund (which was supposed to be a three night stay), I had to find a new place for us, pay the toll booths, pay for 30 miles of back and fourth gas, and still barely got to ski at all because some guy working at the front desk was having a bad day. After looking into some of the other reviews of the lodge, I found similar circumstances to ours, as well as lots of aggressive and rude words to other customers, mixed up accommodations, even people expected to pay for drinks that mysteriously showed up on their tabs. The moment anyone is upset about an issue, they suspiciously get banned. Even in the comments on other reviews, we find the owner often being needlessly aggressive in what appear to be easily resolved situations. Caution when dealing with this place.People like that should be banned from running this hotel. He has no humanity or any professionalism in him, he just misrepresents the state of WV.Noteworthy details
