Perfect, quaint historic Inn! Has an amazing restaurant and lobby bar. Staff are so attentive and helpful and the ambiance can’t be beat! We stayed in an historic room with updated decor that retained period furniture. Beautiful styling throughout, we can’t wait to come back! (Pictured is the swordfish our 9 year ordered without sauce, she loved it!)

Haven't been to this inn for almost 10 years and in between it's changed ownership and fixed up although only a few rooms are actually renovated. A very charming historic inn right in town. Nice front covered porch with seating. Plenty of parking. Ok wifi. There is a bar and restaurant serving brunch and dinner. We are on the second floor in a non-renovated Queen-bed room but it's in fine shape, nicely decorated, clean with plenty of outlets, including a usb charging station with 4 ports. Lighting is superb, wooden floors with area rugs, two sides windows even though not the end room, with a long entry way which gives the room a more spacious feeling. Some area for improvement: the heating is very loud, heats up the room nicely but quite noisy every 20 minutes or so. And the shower-head can really use an upgrade (it not difficult to just change a simple non clogged shower-head!). Breakfast is included served in the lobby but very basic, just muffins with coffee/tea (our last day there was a tart).

There should be night stands on both sides of the bed. Theses days every has a phone and personal thing they need beside them such as books. When booking on line it asked if I wanted to make dinner reservations and a time for the reservation but when we arrived we were told we didn’t have one and she would put me on the bottom of list and try to work us in. One of the reasons visiting was to eat there. She gave suggestions of other places to eat. Guest should have preference. They do at our business.

Perfect fall weekend stay. Loved the historic inn. The room was cozy and comfortable. Employees were very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed sitting with friends around the fire pit on the nice patio sipping a cocktail from the inn’s bar.

The General Lewis is a unique hotel with a nice restaurant and bar. The location is superb as it is located in walking distance to nearly all of Historic Downtown Lewisburg. The hotel is historic and full of charm. During our stay there was an outdoor concert in the courtyard, which was free to hotel guests. The hotel also left an adorable welcome basket for check in which included spring water, cookies, and a guide to the town. The bed was rather stiff but not uncomfortable. The bathroom was adequate but dated. The bath amenities included robes, slippers, and toiletries. The staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel offered complimentary breakfast sweets and coffee. We enjoyed our stay and would return again if in the area.

This place is simply magical! My husband and I first stayed here on our mini-moon on our way south to Asheville and enjoyed it so much that, upon checkout, we booked another night for our return trip! We have since returned for two weekend-long stays, and booking a future stay has now become kind of a tradition (upon checking out last summer we booked a stay for our first anniversary in October, and upon checkout then we booked for our upcoming second anniversary!) The inn has a charm reminiscent of European inns and the bygone days of travel, lovingly updated to welcome today’s modern travelers, with several places to kickback and relax, including the wonderful, large front porch, beautiful rear patio and gardens, and the lovely Thistle Lounge, which also features an incredible cocktail bar! The restaurant is delicious, the staff friendly and attentive, and the rooms, many of which have been recently renovated, are comfortable and well-appointed with wonderful details and character (we enjoy staying in a new room each visit and our favorites so far have been the John Winthrow and Pearl S. Buck rooms). The location is perfect, making it easy to walk to the great restaurants and shops nearby. If you are looking for a wonderful getaway in a unexpectedly quaint & cool town, look no further!Rooms: Well appointed with wonderful design details and character.Walkability: The location is perfect, making it easy to walk to the great restaurants and shops nearby.Food & drinks: Delicious locally-sourced and seasonal menu and wonderful and inventive cocktails!

The General Lewis Inn is just beyond beautiful and charming! We stayed at the Inn for a wedding, and the room was so lovely with such wonderful attention to detail. The wedding we attended was at the Inn and the location, food, and entire celebration was extraordinary. One of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever been too.Food & drinks: The food and drinks were next level. Superb.
