“I've done business with the Emerson Avenue location for quite a while, and I genuinely like the people who work there. They've always treated me respectfully, and this isn't meant to be a bad review or to discourage anyone from shopping there. It's simply my honest experience as a repeat customer.

My only real criticism is how they value firearms when it comes to loans or outright purchases. In my experience, the offers are extremely conservative, especially on higher-end firearms.

For example, I brought in a nearly new SIG P365 Fuse with a brand-new Holosun green dot, the original box, and all three magazines. The package was worth around $1,000 or more, and I was offered $350. I accepted the loan because I intended to come back for it, but unfortunately I wasn't able to. Later I saw it on the shelf for around $775, which I actually thought was a fair selling price.

I had a similar experience with another high-end AR-15 pistol. Before even looking up the rifle or considering its value, I was told they already had too many AR-15s to justify offering more. The rifle which was an early model Spikes Tactical compressor with fully ambi controls and upgraded components. It also had a brand-new SIG Sauer Tango-MSR Compact 1-8x LPVO that I had just purchased from Sportsman's Warehouse for $599.99 plus tax, yet adding that optic didn't change the offer at all. They only offered 375 on at least a $2500 rifle before adding the new optic. Looking back, I probably should have removed the scope before bringing it in.

I completely understand that pawn shops are businesses. They have overhead, take risks, and need to make a profit, and I agreed to the loan offers, so I'm not saying they did anything wrong. My concern is that higher-end firearms don't seem to be evaluated on their individual value. A premium firearm shouldn't receive nearly the same loan offer as an entry-level firearm simply because they already have to many AR-15's in inventory. I also think loyal, repeat customers who consistently bring in quality firearms should receive a little more consideration.

Overall, I'll continue doing business here because I like the staff and they've always treated me well. I simply hope they'll consider being more competitive when valuing higher-end firearms. I think it would benefit both the business and its long-time customers.”

“I've never really had a bad experience dealing with Carl's. Probably my favorite pawn shop out of all that I deal with, and I usually stop into about all I find in my travels as well.”

“Dom was very helpful, I feel very blessed for the assistance she offered. She explained how my pawn would work and offered layaway as an option for some items I found in the store. I definitely would recommend shopping here!”

“WOW! This business goes above and beyond. I had a collection of items to sell and other places around the area just tried to low ball me and offer pennies on the dollar. Paul gave me an excellent price in comparison to others, and it was a fair deal. Thanks for taking care of me when I needed some extra cash. They have a nice selection of guns, jewelry and tools as well with 2 locations on both sides of the river this is the place to be!”

“Honest, courteous, properly trained associates with an owner that has been in business for years. He will tell you the truth if he is not sure about something. He won't con you like Cash America Pawn across the street.”
