Just wanted to share my experience this week at Key Animal Hospital. I received such great care, comfort and compassion from Dr. Yurko and his wonderful staff as my little baby 'Mama Kitty' crossed the Rainbow Bridge as I held her in my arms. ??? ??

I sadly had to put my dog to sleep and asked if there was assistance that I may be eligible for. They were very rude, and not helpful.told me there was nothing. Well, I know the lady, so I was able to find the SPCA lady phone number myself, and was given help. She told me they should have reached out to her for me. Anyhow, I go there with my cane Corso, who sadly was in rough shape. I’m in my late 20’s, crying , very distraught and never experienced this before. The vet came in with all of his students, and I asked if they could leave. I didn’t want tons of kids staring at me when I could barely speak. The VET TOLD ME NO! And then said I was too emotional to be in the room with him. He denied me access. I spoke to the lady in confidence the next day, and she told me when they have students, they don’t get to witness too many euthanasias so this is why he didn’t want me in the room. He robbed me of comforting my dog! Had no compassion towards me when he has two dogs running the office. He judged me bc I got assistance, and now that I’m a PA, I would love to see his treatment of me. This vet is arrogant, rude, and unprofessional! My dog was a blue cane Corso named Caesar who had severe hip dysplasia. But Never again! I will PAY thousands next time just so my dog could leave this world in comfort. Only giving 2 stars bc of the lady who consoled me during my time of solace, and remained honest.

DO NOT COME HERE. I took my larger dog here who developed a hematoma on her neck. Dr. Yurko drained it and was supposed to hold her there for 5 days until the drainage tube could be removed. They refused to show her any attention during her time there which led to her barking. Instead of calming her down they sent her home a day early with the tube still in her neck, a day before it was supposed to be removed, and then complained about how disruptive she was. Due to her being sent home in a non veterinary environment she developed an infection which led to even more complications.Recently I took a much older dog for a large tumor on her foot that made walking difficult. Dr. Yurko without trying medication or doing any scans just wanted to cut her foot off. We went to a secondary vet for a second opinion. They instantly remarked at how weird it was that he wouldn’t suggest trying anti-inflammatory medication first. On top of that they instantly were able to tell that she has an irregular heart beat, which in the 5 years we’ve taken this dog to Dr. Yurko he has never told us. If he had put our dog under anesthesia for surgery without informing us of the arrhythmia or doing tests for it, she could’ve died instantly on the operating table. The secondary vet gave us other options which Dr. Yurko did not provide that were far less extreme for a dog this old.Dr. Yurko does not care about your pet. He is notorious for mishandling pets and being aggressive. He always jumps to the most extreme options and misdiagnoses all the time. He is incapable of noticing things that should be obvious to any vet (like an irregular heartbeat. He doesn’t allow staff to interact with or calm down any animals there. This place is as unprofessional as unprofessional gets. If you care about the welfare of your animals please go anywhere else but here.

Boo had a routine checkup. She received a thorough exam, and all our questions were answered.

I have been using K.E.Y. for years and wouldn’t take my furry babies anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and Dr. Y is so caring.

Thorough, friendly, caring, and devoted. They have the utmost respect for the human-pet relationship. I often wish some of my doctors were as thorough with me as Dr. Yurko is with my dog.

I have taken my dogs to Dr. Yorko for at least 15 years. He is a no-nonsense doctor, and his staff is professional and friendly. Driving an hour and half is worth it.

I want to start off I am not a disgruntled employee and I left on good terms but I feel like people should know what they hide. I use to work at K.E.Y and I have seen things that Dr. Yurko has done to pets that makes me question "why is he in this field?". I wish I was lying about the first thing I am saying because it still gives me nightmares to this day.First was a handicapped animal that I was holding for him to shave and he started to shave this animals bottom very violently. While he was doing this the animal was crying and screaming in pain trying to get away from him all while the animal is peeing all over itself. He asked me to flip the cat over on the table and he did the same thing to the other side of the cat. Then he got a flea comb and RIPPED a mat of fur out that was about the size of a quarter off the animal. I was in such shock at how a vet can even do that do an animal. This animal was a boarder so this animal had to stay for days after this happened and every time I looked at it I wanted to cry.Second thing I have seen them do was lie to a customer whose animal just got diagnosed with cancer. The client asked me if they could speak with Dr. Yurko. I said sure I will go get him. On the way to going to get him co workers were stopping me telling me Dr Yurko does not want to talk to the client and I was told to tell the client that he is not in the office. Which he clearly was in the office. I had to lie to the customers face while she was begging me to talk to him about her dog just getting diagnosed with cancer. This situation made me so uncomfortable and wonder how many other people they do this to.Third thing was he mistreated a kitten that just got out of surgery. A coworker was trying to calm this kitten down that was freaking out in the cage because it was just waking up and asked me to help them. As I was going to get something to help them. Dr yurko came out of surgery and asked very meanly to my coworker. "What are you doing?!" the coworker said the kitten was freaking out and he was trying to help it. Dr Yurko said "LEAVE IT" and grabbed the kitten by its back (not its scruff) and held it like a rag doll and Dr Yurko threw all the stuff on the ground and told me to clean it up.Long story short. Dr. Yurko is not the best when it comes to treating animals like his own. When he gets angry at his employees he takes his anger out on the animals. Which happens a lot from what other coworkers have told me. Don't get me wrong Dr. Yurko is a great surgeon but not the nicest towards the animals. What most of the public see's is a show to make him look better. Also, the animals that are being boarded or hospitalized only get a small pee pad that is only about 2 foot long. No blankets or beds are given to the animals. The kennels are the same. The animals only get a cot with a pee pad and a small pad to cover the cot (which most of the dogs do not lay on so they lay on the ground). The email that K.E.Y sends out when you are boarding and animal is also a lie because it states that the kennel workers play with the dogs and give them lots of attention and treats. We were not allowed to do any of that or else we would get yelled at by Dr. Yurko. Most of the dogs looked depressed and miserable in the kennel.Dr. Stone is no better. I just thought I would tell of some of what I have seen working there so people know. .Take your pet there if you want or don't take your pet there. Just remember you do not know how they are treating your pet when you are not looking.
