Came here for a family event. Called ahead to request a crib, well in advance, but no crib when I arrive. Breakfast was $22 for a plain waffle with some berries dumped over it. Our dinner at Prime 44 was the worst experience I have ever had. The food quality was severely lacking. Soup was unpleasant in flavor and mouthfeel. Salad too gross to try. My medium rare NY strip steak came internally raw. After a very difficult choice I politely asked them to cook a bit more as they saw itvwas raw, it came back still blue. It was not a flavorful cut nor was it of quality to eat rare or raw. ALL IN ALL, THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF. Room amenities are non-existant. Mattresses uncomfortable. Food poor at best. Do not bother coming here,to stay or dine. It is trying to exude class, but there is nothing here that is unique, just extremely overpriced.

This is the legendary basketball player Jerry West's restaurant and the nicest place to dine at the Greenbrier. We all had a wonderful experience the night we visited here. The food, service, and atmosphere were great. What stuck out the most, though, was the waiting area in front of the ladies' room shown in this picture, which was like nothing we've ever seen! What an awesome overall experience.

First, the positive. My 20 oz. bone-in ribeye was beautiful and my wife's filet mignon was good. We got great service, and the coffee and sticky toffee pudding were great. Bread service, though, was so so, and I suppose we should have ordered more sides since nothing came on the entree plate but the meat. That's normal but the sides are 2-4 large servings and we didn't want to waste food. Our first bottle of Merlot was bad, but we swapped that out for a decent Cabernet. It was the luck of the draw, but we were seated in the back by the kitchen so the ambiance/atmosphere was a bit lacking. We live in DC and have had many 5-star restaurant meals. The cost is high, but the food and experience is fantastic. This was a 2-person $500 meal that was just so-so overall. A disappointment.

Worst meal I’ve had in years. Inedibly garlicky Caesar salad; appallingly salty lobster mashed potatoes. Lobster in the seafood platter was dreadfully overcooked. Eat elsewhere.

Wow, just wow! This restaurant is truly a museum dedicated to Jerry West. To see his Olympic gold medal, all of his NBA Championship rings, and even his diploma from East Bank High School, I was in heaven. We loved every part of our meal, from Cathy's Blue Ribbon cornbread, to our perfectly cooked steaks, and our bananas fosters for dessert, every moment was first class.Someone asked if it was better than the Wonder Bar in Clarksburg, WV, and I would say it is the same caliber of experience, but at a higher price point. However, we were at the Greenbrier Resort so food costs are at a premium. This experience was definitely worth the cost.

Amazing food! Ahi Tuna was perfectly done, prime rib so tender and the New York strip just right. Caesar Salads done fresh table side.Honestly one of the best steakhouses we have been to in quite some time.

DC couple staying at Greenbrier for a long weekend holiday. Don’t waste you time or money at this restaurant. Kansas strip was at best choice, not prime. No flavor. The lobster mashed potatoes were good, but not worth trying given the rest of our experience. Service is slow. We had to ask for the bread that came to the table and for our waters to be refilled. One waitress dropped a wine glass on the floor. This happens. However, she quickly cleaned up the larger pieces and left the smaller pieces on the ground not altering near by customers or another staff member to make sure the glass was cleared. My husband and I cleaned up the glass pieces around our table. We expected to be checked on from ordering our food to receive g our meals. This didn’t happen. As they were placing our meals down at our table, our waitress was picking up the shards of glass we had picked up from the corner of our table. Very poor service. Would expect more from the Greenbrier. Save your money and go to Lewisburg for a meal at The French Goat.

We ate dinner in three of the Greenbrier's restaurants during our recent visit, and Prime 44 West actually ended up being our least favorite of the three. That is not to say that it wasn't good. It was an enjoyable experience for the most part, but it did not match the superior food and service of the other two restaurants. The evening at Prime 44 started off a little rocky. We had a reservation and were seated fairly promptly, but we were seated at the absolute worst table in the restaurant. It was a round table for two that was placed right on the point of a protruding corner, basically right in the middle of a busy walkway, and everyone who walked by brushed up against our table, so there was absolutely no semblance of privacy. Additionally, the table was right next to the bussing station, so my only view was of stacks of dirty dishes. A fairly pricey restaurant with an excellent reputation should not even have a "bad" table like that. I was not happy, and as soon as our server appeared, I requested a different table. To the restaurant's credit, they were very accommodating upon hearing my request (also, the server did not seem surprised, which led me to believe that others have made the same request). The restaurant was full, though, so we were escorted back to the lobby area to wait. We did have to wait for quite a while, but I didn't mind. I'd much rather wait and be seated at a good table rather than enduring a frustrating experience at a bad table. While we were waiting in the lobby, which is adjacent to the bar, we had a rather interesting experience. We were waiting near a glass door that looked onto a patio type area (not part of the restaurant), and while we were looking outside, a pair of skunks came running onto the patio and proceeded to chase each other right outside the door, eventually running into some shrubbery. It was quite a sight!! I don't think I've ever seen a skunk "up close and personal" like that before (and certainly not two together, frolicking). They were bigger and fluffier than I imagined. And actually pretty cute, haha. Others in the restaurant had seen them through the restaurant windows and came and looked out through the glass door where we were standing, since that provided the best view. Then, a little while later, we saw one of the skunks emerge again. It was a fun and unexpected little diversion to the evening. We were eventually seated at a very nice table in the main part of the dining room, near the windows, which was much better than our first table, so we were happy. The ambience in the dining room is nice -- kind of clubby and masculine (in a good way), with dark leather and deep reds, also sports memorabilia on the walls, but the dress code takes it up a notch, creating a classy, warm, hospitable steakhouse atmosphere. Service was only so-so. There was nothing glaringly bad about it, but it also wasn't anything special, not nearly as professional, friendly, or attentive as the service we received in the other two Greenbrier restaurants. Our server was fine. She was not very attentive, probably because she was juggling some larger groups that were taking most of her attention. Again, it wasn't terrible; it just wasn't stellar either. We did wish she was a little more attentive. The food was hit or miss. Some of it was very good. Some of it was so-so. Some of it was not good. The bread service was outstanding. That was really a highlight of the meal. There were a variety of breads, all warm and fresh and yummy. According to the menu, the cornbread is famous, but to me, that was actually the least-interesting of the bread options (although it was still good -- it just tasted like typical good cornbread, nothing really different than good cornbread you'd get anywhere). There was another type of bread that had smoked bacon in it, and even though I don't usually care for bacon, I have to admit, that bread was really delicious!! That was the best one. But it was all yummy. Definitely don't skip th

The Lobster Mashed Potatoes that are featured on Food Networks “Best Thing I ever Ate” that everyone was talking about… are instant mashed potatoes and I don’t care what ANYONE says. I know what real potatoes taste like (and instant) and these were instant that had been jazzed up. I’m honestly shocked!! I’m sure that on the Food Network show they were real potatoes but at my dinner last night, they sadly weren’t. Everything else was good enough though.

My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Greenbrier to celebrate her birthday. Our first dinner was at the restaurant itself and we were well taken care of by Peggy. I had the filet while my wife had the crab cake appetizer as her dinner. We then went back 2 more times and sat at the bar and were well taken care of by Sarah and Aria(sp). We split a filet the 2nd time while on the 3rd visit, I had the tuna while my wife has the sea bass. The only menu item that was not good was the salmon (way too much salt). Fabulous restaurant. If you can’t secure a reservation, try the bar. I think it seats 6?

Definitely check out Prime 44 while at the Greenbrier. Fantastic wine list, great menu and cool decor featuring Jerry West. We had Owen Nickle as our server. He was amazing and made our dining experience. The lobster Mac and cheese was worth the hype.

Prime 44 is a superb upscale steak venue at the Greenbrier Resort. The entire staff was wonderful, as was the food. We had a NY strip and the Lamb chops for our entrée. The sides are family style and the combo fried onion strings/shoestring potatoes are a must do side, might consider a half order even for two people. Creamed spinach and Boursin creamed potatoes are also great sides!
