“My wife and I have been dealing with Thrivent for the last 13 years. In addition to their commission based options they also now offer a flat fee advisory service. At this time we use them for financial planning and have term insurance with Northwestern Mutual. Our advisor and his associates that we have met so far have been great to work with and available to answer any questions. Other advisors may be different in their level of service provided. We have never had a problem getting help even when calling the main office. Thrivent is also one organization that my parents had dealt with for investing. When my father passed away 6 years ago they were easy to work with processing the life insurance and annuities my parents had. No charges no scams....cant say the same about a couple of other companies I had to deal with! The life insurance even rolled into an account that paid 4% when the prevailing interest rates were under 1%. A non profit can mean a lot of things but we have also been very happy in being able to designate where of the charitable money is sent. In addition with their "Action Teams" program we have been able to do civic service fundraisers in our community. Check Yelp on Vanguard and Fidelity, both are also low scores like Thrivent. For food people will leave good and bad reviews. Will they do the same for financial companies or only leave their negative stories? No matter who you invest with or use as an advisor do your homework, understand what you are buying and regularly follow up! After all it is your future on the line.
