So I called up the store and I asked them what kind of men's they were taking. They gave me a list of exactly what they wanted. I brought everything they asked me to bring, they only took two things paid me $6.50 not even enough gas money to get home what a waste of time what a scam don't trust these people

Plato's advertise they carry trendy mall brands priced at 50-70% retail. My experience is this store was very different.
- Lots of blah, bland, basic, non-trendy clothes priced $8-$20 each.
- The quality is disappointing. Many pilled and very worn items. Many of the brands are sold exclusively by stores like Walmart/Kohls or are the inferior lines of Nike/Adidas manufactured exclusively for Walmart/Kohls (you can tell by the feel of the fabric, details, etc.). TJ Maxx does the same thing with Tommy Hilfiger.
- Some of the items, like used beauty products, are gross to see in a shop that advertises better quality used clothes.
- The store is too small for the quantity of clothes.
They do carry plus size, and I purchased two Athleisure items for $21.
Plato's would purchase most of the NWT clothes I brought in, but at an average of $5 each, I'll be reselling online. Nothing wrong with reselling items for $10-15 each, but the marketing is not consistent with what this store sells.
Staffing:My experience with the staff is they are very young and possibly not well trained in retail customer service. I didn't find them rude, but not friendly either, which I expected in a store that targets a young adult customer base. The responses to low star reviews I find embarrassingly unprofessional and inappropriate for an adult business owner. I am going to check out the Green Bay and Madison stores as recommended in some reviews.

I just wanted to come on here to add a positive review. Before going to Plato’s yesterday I was a bit nervous after seeing some of the reviews. However, I had the complete opposite experience . I called ahead of time to verify if they accepted a certain size and brand and they referred me next door with some of my smaller sized clothing and helped me out with what they could take. I brought my stuff in a plastic bad and although they don’t accept it in plastic bags (needs to be in a plastic container or laundry bin) they kindly told me to bring a bin next time and accepted my bag of clothes. Although they were not able to accept everything I was able to get 20$ off of about 3-4 pieces of clothing. So not only did I walk out of there 20$ richer (haha) I also have half of my clothes back that I can try and sell in my own way.
I think if you go in there with a frown expecting nothing but bad things then that’s what you’ll get. But if you go in with a smile and accept the fact that they might not be able to take your clothing if it’s stained or to old. You’re walking in the store taking a chance and they are doing the same!
Thanks Plato’s

Store is too small for the amount of clothes in this store. If someone is in an isle looking at close....there is not enough room to get around them. Too annoying to even enjoy looking through the clothes. The used lotions at the counter with dirty tops were gross. Prices arent terrible

Thought I should share my experience even though it was from a couple weeks ago. Went there to find new clothes with my friend. It was amazing they have better prices then most goodwill places and thrift stores that I have been too. I would be careful on what u say abt others and how they act. From what I experienced while I was there, there was friendliness and understanding and they were very happy to talk to me. What helps is when you walk in with a smile and say good morning, or afternoon depending on the time u get there. I highly recommend it for people who are looking for good prices. 👍 I will defiantly be shopping there again.

I was a little nervous to come here, as I have never been to a Plato’s Closet, and the reviews aren’t tremendous, but I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. One of the girls working helped to talk me through giving them my clothes, and let me know the wait time, which was quite accurate. There was about 15 bins before mine, so I went to Starbucks for 45 minutes before I got the text to collect my money, and what they did not take. For items that I would have taken to goodwill anyway, I made a fairly decent amount of money. The girl who checked me out made sure to explain why they didn’t take some of the items and was very kind. Based on my experience and the reviews, it seems that some people are just offended that there clothing is not considered “in style”, or don’t realize that the clothing they have to too worn to be resold. I will definitely be coming back in the future!

Was about to drive here to drop clothes off, but based on the reviews and the responses from the owner... I think I will stick to my local Plato's.
You guys seriously need to learn how to manage PR. This is just embarrassing on your part.
I own a business too, but I dont sit and have tantrums with everyone who doesn't have a 5 star experience. Get over yourself, girly.

Colossal waste of time. They do not take maternity clothes or formal wear…they could have glanced at these items and informed me immediately but instead had me wait the full 30 min while I held my 8 month old. Terrible…should not be in business.

The staff here are unbelievably rude and unprofessional and most of them are teenagers with major attitude. They look you up and down like you don’t belong and act like they’re better than you just for working at a secondhand store. It’s honestly embarrassing how judgmental they are. Don’t waste your time or energy here. There are plenty of other places that will treat you with basic respect.

How you respond to upset customers really says a lot about you as a company. Your responses to some of these reviews are super off-putting. Sure, most of these people are just upset, confused and bitter as to why you didn’t pay $50 for their poop-filled pants, but you sound just as bad as they do. Do better.

I would rate zero stars if i could! Went to go sell my almost brand new stuff worn maybe once, some wasn’t even worn. They could not take anything since it was “out dated”, um so none of it is but okay. I had stuff that all had just been put through the washer and things with tags still on them. I didn’t think Burks were outdated..
