Update: even more disgusted that it was the owner! How sad to have an established small business in town and have this kind of reputation based on previous reviews.
Was happy to find a great selection, however Susan needs a tune up on her customer service. Was very short, unfriendly and argumentative when requesting sizes to try on stating we don’t need that size. There was only one other shopper in the store so it wasn’t due to being busy. I get she’s the “expert” but didn’t even have my sons big toe in the shoe sizer and lectured us on what size to buy. I would not recommend and would tell others to wait for Scheel’s to have the product in stock because the service would be worth the wait.

I have had nothing but positive experiences each time I have gone into Vagabond. It is by far one of the best shoe stores. Both the selection and customer service has been great. I am someone that does look at reviews and when I read the 2 bad reviews about Vagabond it makes me shake my head. For someone not wanting to pay for tape at UPS but expect another business to provide for free is absurd. To buy a pair of shoes for someone not with you is always a gamble and to blame this on Vagabond is absurd as well. How sad that our society feels the need to post negative experiences about a business because of their own poor personal judgment. Vagabond keep doing what you do so well ... offering great selection of shoes and offering wonderful customer service. I will always recommend your store.

Friday 5/19/24 12:30 pm. OMG I ran an errand to the Ups Store next store they said I needed to tape the box or charge me $3.00. I live about 15 miles away I didn’t wanna run all the way home and I didn’t have any money with me in my pocket. So there is a shoe store Vagabond Shoes (Appleton, Wi) next store to the UPS store and I thought well maybe they will help me out and will have some tape. So I walk in and I ask in the lady if she had some shipping tape for my box. She was very rude. She started putting a couple pieces of tape on the box. And was complaining how much it cost her for the tape and at this point I was just like oh my God why did I even walk in this place I told her I would stop by and bring her some tape and she said she likes her special tape!! Again. I’m thinking oh my God how rude!! So I dropped my box off at the UPS store and went to my car and found $10 yes $10 and gave it to her and just to let you know it only would’ve cost me $3.00 dollars at the UPS Store would I have known how I was going to be treated at Vagabond Shoes, I would’ve never walked asking for a favor. I too work in retail and was taught how to respect people. Was it really that big of a. deal to help someone out with some tape ( 4 pieces) and for her to be so rude was unbelievable. I will be telling this story to alot of people and I hope you can sleep at night knowing you should not be working with the public. You were very rude! I should sign up and send you case of shipping tape every month so you don’t run out but wait it wouldn’t be good enough for you!!!!!!

I am probably the pickiest shoe person, and after spending 90 minutes elsewhere, I tried Vagabond Shoes! Best shoe place ever excellent customer service. Excellent selection, definitely recommend.

I would never shop there again.My first and only experience here was buying shoes a week ago for myself and my daughter.I bought my daughter and I tennis shoes for our trip. When I got home she tried them on.. she thought they felt weird on her feet. She put them on, walked out to the driveway, put her bag in the car said they were uncomfortable and we took them off. I told her I would try to exchange them for another pair that were more comfortable for her. (I thought my pair was comfortable for my feet so I kept mine.) I brought hers back to the store with receipt and box the following week and said that I wanted to return them. The woman opened the box and then said arrogantly "Well I'll have to clean these up. I can't sell them like this!" I was in complete shock because my daughter didn't even wear them! They were perfectly clean. I asked her," what are you talking about? My daughter didn't even wear them?" and she pointed to two tiny stones that were in between the crease on the bottom.. more than likely two pieces of gravel from the driveway. I was completely offended. Like she thought we weren't being honest or something?? The tone of voice.. the way she talked to me was completely unprofessional. Then she asked what I wanted to do- and I said that all I wanted to do was exchange them for a different pair of shoes..not return them. I then proceeded to quickly pick out a different pair of shoes for her( at this point I just wanted to get the hell out of the store because I felt so uncomfortable.) It seemed like after I told her I wasn't just trying to return them her attitude changed and then she went to the back to see if they had the size I needed for her. I just picked something quick for her, paid the difference, and then left.I did notice upon checking out that there was a sign about returns on the front desk-that it's over 7 days they don't accept returns.. seems like all they care about is money... not taking care of their customers or being respectful of them. As a business owner myself, frankly it's terrible business practice.It's really disappointing to think that businesses that rely so much on customer service could be so self-serving and inconsiderate. Would not recommend.

Do not shop here. Owner is terrible. Extremely rude. Go to Josephs shoes instead. The store is bigger, nicer and the men are helpful.

I was diehard about getting my whole family new Birkenstock's for this summer. We purposely made the trip from Wausau over to Appleton in search of more variety. This was the first store we checked on Sunday 5/2/21 in the Morning as they were the first ones open. the selection of shoes was beautiful, although a tad over priced. I don't mind spending more however if the service is good. I found several pairs I could easily have gotten, and didn't even get a chance to look for my kids. I inquired with the sales lady about conversion size for my husband (who, let me back up a second neither she nor her coworker greeted us when we entered).....so I asked what I had to get. She snappily said well it depends on if your truly buying for the length or because he has a wide foot. I jokingly replied, I wasn't sure, all I really knew was that he was big enough for him to stick in his mouth. She got this angry salty look on her face, and goes, that doesn't help me....well, I'm sorry, I was trying to be funny and felt my mannerisms and attitude were on point. I left there without making a purchase and more so than any mitigating factor, was the attitude of the employees. I ended up going to Tradehome in Appleton Mall and purchasing 6 pairs of Birkenstocks. I guess apparently Vagabond is not interested in making $600 I even remarked to my friend as I left the store and she agreed the woman was rude to me.
