Was really disappointed with my experience at Neilsons today. My husband went there yesterday to grab hamburger for tonight's dinner only to find out it had already been 2 days expired. Also this has been the 3rd or 4th time since summer this has happened. So I call and talk to the manager of the meat department and he told me "they'll probably refund you in the front" (which they did) but I told him I didn't really want to be that person and complain but it's getting frustrating. Having to do multiple trips to the same store for one meal because of the meat. Like every month. The food prices are already high. Not to mention for a local grocer. And to get home and find out the food you just bought is already bad? It shouldn't really be my job to check dates. There are food distribution laws that prohibit that. And he told me either deal with it or drive a half hour somewhere else. I also addressed the fact the last time I called they sold me RANCID chicken that hadn't even hit its expiration date yet and he told me"well what do you want me to do, open the packages everyday??". I'm not sure but in most other department stores when i call and notify them of rancid/dangerous products, the response shouldn't be "yeah we heard, just bring it back for a refund." That would be a recall on product for the public in most other stores.Love the cashiers. But that was totally on character for the other calls I've made to the meat department. The other manager in the front also seemed less than interested in the fact his employee acted out like this or that they sold bad/ dangerous merch. Will not be visiting again.

I have been doing most of my grocery shopping here because Walmart doesn't keep the items that I like on their shelves especially if the item is a fast mover. Also Nilssen's has more products that are locally raised and grown for you and I.??Great for a family owned grocery, still a great place. They are putting in more gluten free products ?

This store is outrageously high priced! It's honestly worth driving 30 miles to save a LOT of money by shopping at any other grocery store!

Very nice store with just about everything you could want. However, the prices on many items were at least 50% higher than Hudson or Eau Claire grocery stores. I understand that Baldwin isn't a large city and that they have overhead, but wow!

Deli lady was not kind to my fiancé tonight. She got mad when we wanted a 16 piece order. We have never been told to order ahead. We work outside and don’t have time to cook and have a large family. She was utterly rude. I hope she works on her customer service skills.

Small town atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Limited product selection due to it being small.

Huge selection for such a miniscule town.I park at the truck stop and walk the 2 miles each way, it's worth it! Never disappoints! I always find gems & hidden treasure here.

Cashier was curt, and rude. She was the only cashier there - other than her, the self checkouts were available. She lectured me about trying to purchase a bottle of wine. I informed her that as a new customer, I wasn't aware the wine was to be checked out in another part of the store, and apologized. Needless to say, after being talked down to by a disgruntled teenager, I will not be returning.

A bit over priced, but I guess they make up for it with happy helpful employees

Great atmosphere, everyone is always nice but since it's a small town they tend to jack the prices up a little bit

Small town inflation of prices, most of the women who are shopping are unruly, pampered spoiled housewives, but the cashiers they hire are awesome. Really down to earth people those cashier's are.The owner of this chain should be ashamed of himself for loving money so much. It is undeniable how important it is to them...
