My dog had developed very sudden glaucoma Christmas Eve, that was causing her pain to the point of dropping her head every few minutes. Berlin Vet got her in right after the holidays to check her out. Specifically, Dr. Holt did everything she could from pain meds to eye drops to try and save my little lady's eye. After little to no signs of improvement, they had to remove it. From the first initial "omg" visit, to her last follow up of getting her stitches out, Dr. Holt has been nothing short of amazing. She cares for her pooch patients, listens to your concerns and doesn't write you off like several vets in the past have done to me.

The vets and technicians always take the time to explain the diagnosis. They take care and love my pets as much as I do.

We were charged $50 for missing our first appointment with the clinic. We found out upon rescheduling that they had our names, address, and phone numbers all entered incorrectly. This explained why we missed our confirmation call for our first appointment. Now I’ve been trying to get a prescription, and even after calling in multiple times to get it fixed, I was still sent a prescription with the original incorrect information. We chose this vet because none near us were accepting new dogs. We’ll be trying to find a new vet as soon as possible.

I brought my dog in to check her paw as she was not putting weight on it. The doc there states she saw discharge coming from my dog after I mentioned she wasn't spayed yet. They did xrays and ultrasounds and diagnosed her with an open pyometra. They said I would need emergency surgery which would cost $3,000 approximately. I could not afford that at the time so we took her home. We did not see any signs of her being sick after her leg healed. in fact, they did not look too much into her leg after they decided she needed this emergency surgery. Two months later, I took her in for a second opinion, being that there was no signs of open pyometra as Berlin stated, She was able to have regular surgery and it saved me about $2000. Be careful with this vet clinic and do your own research.

I truly do not know how this place has more than 1 star. This is BY FAR the worst place I’ve ever been to. I don’t leave reviews based off one bad experience I have had multiple terrible experiences. Starting with the time they gave me a prescription for alprazolam for my anxious dog. The label said take 3 1 hour prior to appointment. When I got there I was concerned that my dog couldn’t even stand up straight and was walking into walls they asked why I gave him 3 pills and I showed them the bottle and they said “sorry that was written wrong. If you dog has any trouble breathing take him to the emergency vet” mind you, that’s an hour away. They also diagnosed my other dog with cancer and told me and he didn’t have long to live because the cancer spread to his lungs. I took him to a specialist and they looked at the X-rays and told me that it was allergies. He’s a frenchie and has always had allergies) On top of that, every time you call the person who answers the phone can’t help you. She has to put you on hold and transfer you to someone else. And if you expect them to remember to give you a call back you’re sadly mistaken. Unfortunately there aren’t many places accepting new dogs and that’s why we were stuck here for so long but please advocate for your animals. I called another vet and told them my situation with this vet and even though they aren’t accepting new animals they made an exception. I don’t know how this place is still in business. Also, never trust a business that doesn’t take the time to apologize for a terrible experience.

I waited months to write this hoping that I could let it go but my experience at Berlin Animal Hospital but it seems to be one I just cannot ignore. To preface this, we are new to the area and had to bring a kitten in somewhere-anywhere to get its vaccinations and wellness checkup. Berlin was one of the only places within a 30-40 minute radius from our home that was taking new clients, so, I was grateful that there was somewhere she could be seen. And for this, I gave them more than one star.My issue is with how they handled the care of my senior (15) dog with sudden acute glaucoma. After trying various things, it was decided that she had to have surgery to remove the eye. We were assured that she was in great health and a great candidate from surgery. It didn’t even occur to me that they never (not in the 6+ months I took her there, not even for an annual/new patient checkup) took blood work to backup their assessment of great health. It was never even offered. The eye was so bad that it was a little too risky to wait for their earliest surgery appointment 3 weeks away. So we decided to get a second opinion by our old vet almost 2 hours away that had surgery options sooner.Fortunately, the other vet ran the needed bloodwork to make sure she was healthy enough for surgery and preformed extra tests on the eye that could have been beneficial to perform at the beginning of this saga. Unfortunately, the blood tests not only came back to the news that she was not good candidate for surgery, but her kidneys were doing so bad that she should not have been on the carprofen the Berlin vet had prescribed and she had been on for weeks. In fact, the tests were so poor that it was pretty clear that aside from the eye, she probably did not have long to live with any quality of life. When I was emailed the finding to Berlin, I had been told that they would report this up the chain and someone would get back to me. I wasn’t wanting compensation or anything like that, I just wanted them to recognize that the situation was not handled well. I was not happy that they were willing to do a very costly surgery on a 15 year old dog without making sure she was in good enough health to do so. Well, crickets. No one got back to me. I don’t want to assume they simply ignored me but this has been a pattern with them. In my 6+ months of bringing 4 pets to Berlin, it seems that a lot tends to fall through the cracks because they are too busy to communicate effectively with each other and the patient. What is concerning to me is that they recently added another patient room to accommodate all the need (which is true, there is a severe shortage in the area) but because of this, they are seeming to operate on quantity of pets they can see vs the quality of care they give each of those pets. All this being said, if you have to find someone quick to bring your pet in for varies reasons, this place is sufficient but for long term quality care, I would find someplace else if you can.

The ENTIRE STAFF IS AWESOME!! The doctors both small animal and large animal. They take the time to thoroughly explain what is wrong when you have a sick pet and answer any questions you may have. When the doctors recommend something to be done (shots, labs, etc.) they don't push it on you they explain why they recommend that particular thing. Everyone is friendly, courteous, and always smiling no matter what. I also absolutely LOVE that they decorate for EVERY HOLIDAY. It puts a smile on my face when I see it. I would recommend Berlin Veterinary Clinc to everyone with big and small animals! Thank you for the wonderful job you all do!

If you love your pets, do yourself a favor and find a new location to take your favorite feline or canine. My in-laws just had to put their dog down this morning due to the extreme negligence of this location.Apparently, what they learned today from a different vet is their dog has had an autoimmune disorder since birth, which after multiple blood tests, they were never told anything was wrong. The dog was there less than 3 months ago and had blood work done for an infection, but absolutely no information was given in regards to an issue the animal has had since birth. They were happy to take their money, but never provided paperwork for ANY work that was done, including blood work, dental work, etc.So, after the experience that they had today, after bringing their dog to this location for about 6 years, find a different vet and get someone that actually cares about your animal and not about padding their wallets before you have to bury your pet, too.
