I usually enjoy shopping at Kohl’s for their collection, but this time I had a disappointing and uncomfortable experience with the staff.
I asked them to hold a pair of Nike shoes (hold slip and photo attached). The date was clearly written, but when I returned before the hold expired, I was told the shoes had been sold. I spoke to Manager Kathy, who admitted it was their mistake and kindly offered 45% off another Nike pair over the phone . I let her know I live on the east side and work in Wauwatosa, so I’d come in a few days. She said she would inform the staff.
On June 21, after work, I went back, found a new Nike pair I liked, and asked for Kathy—she wasn’t there, so another manager, Dave, was called. I calmly explained everything, but he said he couldn’t honor the 45% offer and would only give 30%. He asked me if I had any email from Kathy confirming the discount. I told him I wasn’t aware I needed an email—if I had known, I would have asked her for one.
I also mentioned that a staff member who witnessed the original issue was nearby. I politely asked Dave if he could speak with her. He said he had already asked her, and I said I’d wait for her to return. I assumed she went to the back, possibly near the CCTV area. To my surprise, Dave then said, “It’s not good to stalk people.” That comment was unnecessary, inappropriate, and made me feel very uncomfortable. I was simply trying to get clarity in a calm and respectful way.
This review isn’t about missing a discount—it’s about how I was spoken to as a customer. Kohl’s has a great collection, but I truly hope they improve staff communication and customer handling. Respect and professionalism should always come first.

I really wish they would bring back the fliers in the paper. It would make me want to visit the store more often. I see what's on sale, see the discounts they are offering, that makes me go shopping.

Make sure you know how to use the kohls app for payment and coupons or else self checkout is a complete hassle and associate is no help.
