Candlewood Suites Kenosha by IHG — A Masterclass in Public Humiliation and Managerial Disrespect
I arrived at Candlewood Suites Kenosha with a fully paid reservation, expecting a quiet check-in and a clean room. What I received instead was a coordinated display of condescension, public shaming, and refusal to engage in basic human decency.
Let me be precise.
The Front Desk Clerk
From the moment I entered the lobby, the woman behind the counter made it clear I was not welcome. She repeatedly told me that unless I provided a deposit immediately, she would reject my already-paid room. Not once did she walk over to speak with me directly. Instead, she staged the interaction from behind the desk, timing her statements so that other guests were always walking through the lobby—ensuring I was humiliated in front of strangers. She raised her voice just enough to make sure her threats were overheard, but never enough to be called out for aggression. It was calculated, theatrical, and cruel.
She refused to acknowledge that I had already paid. She refused to speak to me privately. She refused to treat me like a guest. Her behavior was not just unprofessional—it was emotionally degrading.
The Manager
When I asked for someone in charge, the manager came out and looked me directly in the face. I had my ID in front of me. I had multiple valid cards—Chime, PayPal, Varo, Sofi—all in my name. I even showed her my Apple Wallet, where the same cards were stored digitally. Her response? “It’s for fraud prevention.”
Fraud prevention? While I’m standing there with full identification, proof of payment, and every card in my name? That wasn’t policy enforcement. That was a dismissal. A refusal to engage. A decision to treat me like a threat instead of a paying guest.
She made no effort to explain, no effort to resolve, and no effort to speak to me with respect. Her tone was cold, her posture rigid, and her words designed to shut me down—not to help me understand. She stood there, fully aware of the situation, and chose to escalate it with indifference.
The Result
I was denied access to a room I had already paid for. I was publicly humiliated in a lobby full of strangers. I was treated like a criminal by both the front desk clerk and the manager. And I was offered no resolution, no apology, and no dignity.
This wasn’t a misunderstanding. It was a deliberate act of exclusion and emotional harm. The staff at Candlewood Suites Kenosha did not just fail to meet basic hospitality standards—they weaponized their positions to shame and reject a paying guest.
If this is how Candlewood Suites trains its staff to handle deposits, identification, and guest relations, then the brand deserves every ounce of reputational damage that follows. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will make sure this experience is known wherever I can share it.
