Absolutely at the bottom of the heap in terms of customer service and accountability! The only reason I have resorted to ordering from them is because they are one of the few shoe stores that carry narrow sizes. Other than that, this company has no redeeming qualities. To cite a recent experience: I spoke with 2 "supervisors" and neither one would take any steps to try to resolve a fedex delivery problem, i.e. an order from MS was on a fedex truck "out for delivery" for five days, bu. t the item was NEVER delivered! The MS supervisors said they had to wait 15 days after the ship date before they could report the item as lost and issue a refund! They also stated that they had no way of directly contacting the fedex facility where the order was. Really? They select the carrier and the method of shipping, but they have no way of communicating with the carrier if there is a problem? Beyond ludicrous and why would you waste your time ordering from them? I'll just start wearing heavier socks.

I recently purchased shoes and returned them, as they were too big. Clark shoes are available at a much lower price on Amazon. I paid for shipping and handling twice, once to receive the purchase and again to return it. In small print on the invoice, it states there is an additional charge of $9.99 for use of the return label. There is tax on the return label and tax on the shipping and handling fees both ways. Even so, my refund was smaller than what it should have been. I emailed customer service to ask how my refund was calculated. I was told "return fees are the responsibility of the customer." It was apparent that my email was not even read. I called the 800 number. The representative could not explain why I was paying more for shipping and handling plus tax for the return, then said that the tax percentage is from the state I live in. The return cost should have been the same as what I had paid to receive it. It took too long to receive my refund, even after notification that the return was received. Terrible customer service.

While hoping to place an order yesterday, being completely unable to understand what the phone rep was saying in what she considered English,I asked,"are you in Wisconsin where the catalog says you're in?" No. "I'm in South Africa". Our order was almost $300. Shipping for two pairs of boots $30. Standard and least expensive they had. Cancelled the order. Said that I will make sure thousands of Americans know via socmedia that Maryland Square refused to stay in the USA Welcome back to 2008-2016! 2025 WILL be GLORIOUS with USA jobs&America first!

Worse! Poorly made shoes. Charge for shipping and returns. Cost more to return. Avoid. Tried because my mom loves this place. Zappos are 1000% better.

I should have paid attention to some of the other reviews. This company will not credit neither the shipping of the shoes arriving or sending back, nor will they refund any of the sales tax. I've never encountered this with any other companies shoe orders. So I paid $40.01 to have 2 pairs of shoes sent to me and returned by me. Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no choice but to shop online because brick and mortar stores in my area don't carry shoes in my size. While Maryland Square did have several pairs that met my needs for style and size, the shipping costs and poor customer service were awful. I paid $9.99 shipping for each pair, and another $9.99 each to return the 2 pairs that didn't work for me. In hindsight I could probably have saved a bit if I'd not used their return labels, something I won't do again if I'm ever in the position of having to buy from them. Believe me, if I could avoid buying from them I would. They received my 2 returned pairs on 5/11/23 but didn't acknowledge that until 5/19/23. And as of today, 5/21/23, they've yet to issue the credit to my card. When I contacted them about this, I was told that I had to call the warehouse and see if they could expedite the return process. Translation: they don't employ enough people to process returns in a timely manner and MS can't/won't be bothered to interface with their own warehouse on behalf of their customers. In short, avoid buying from MS if at all possible.

I wear a AA width shoe which is hard to find in stores. I buy shoes from here bacause I can find my size. The catalog that comes once a month has a 20% coupon for most of the shoes they sell. I can only afford the shoes if the coupon works. It helps to cover the postage. Sometimes I find a coupon in the email with a bigger discount then on the mail order catalog.

Negative: Maryland Square prices were higher than other on-line stores plus $14.99 shipping. Return shipping is $9.99. Positive: Pretty good selection of 4E width shoes.

Their shipping charges are outrageous! I paid $14.99 initially for shoes that don't fit and now have to pay $9.99 for the return. So much for their "sales"

Do not order from this company. They have changed their return policy. I purchased a pair of shoes in the beginning of December. The total amount for purchase $100. Received the shoes 12/17 tried them on they didn’t fit, returned them that day for different width. Called today 1/3 to find out where my replacement shoes, not available anymore. Refund will be $74. I paid $26 for nothing! Not good. Do not order from Maryland Square!

I returned a pair of shoes on November 11 from SC. According to Maryland Square, they are still in MN, not in WI. Tracking does not show up, and I used their shipping label. A lady at Maryland Square finally told me it takes three to seven days for refunds before she mentioned it could be the weather causing a delay. Vehicles are constantly on the roads in MN where my package is located, and WI where it is to go. Are we in the pandemic arena again? Every person should pay for their return shipping. The cheapest and longest shipping period for return packages goes by FedEx Economy Ground. Maryland Square gets their money immediately, but there is no telling when a customer receives a refund. FedEx and Maryland Square are now giving the worst service of any merchant.

I have 2 pair of nice ladies shoes.Neither pair fit.I originally tried to order a pair of red sketchers for my wife's birthday in 2021.They did not have the 8.5 w that I needed so I ended up with a nice pair of leather(red) shoes in a size 9 (@roughly twice the price) .This year I think I'm going to get something done before they run out of the sketchers I wanted originally. So in September I order another pair of sketchers (over the telephone). They come in the mail and I promptly hide them away in a closet.I did not confirm that they were the right size.Flash forward to her birthday (Dec) They were 9.5 w and way too big.She went on to tell me that the pair I gave her last year didn't fit either (Size 9-too small)! So after all my effort to find just what she wanted here I am out roughly $150.00 and nothing to show for it .I decide to contact Maryland about echanging for a 8.5 w .I eventually got through with a 5am ET call and found that yes they have the 8.5w that I need but sorry we have a 60 day return policy .OK I get it but who made the mistake sending a 9.5 to begin with? Then I'm told that a supervisor can approve the exchange for the "right" size but they don't come in until later and I"ll have to call back.I explained how difficult it has been to get through to begin with .Can't you just have a "supervisor " call me back? She agrees to do that .I get an Email a few hours later stating that they have a 60 day return policy.I'm now retired but I was a manager for probably 50 years .Policy is what you fall back on when the right thing to do may not be obvious .Their claim to be convenient is simply not so . I won't do business with people again.

It's unfortunate that a massive corporation like Maryland Square can be so deceitful. I ordered a pair of shoes in June, and because of issues with back orders, I didn't receive my shoes until August! I figured it would be worth the wait because I have a narrow feet and have difficulty finding dress shoes that fit. When the shoes finally arrived, they were way too narrow and tight. I immediately returned them, and it took four weeks to get a refund! I, like everyone else, lost time and money on a pair of shoes I would never get to wear. It cost me $23.93, and if you multiply that by the number of people who have to pay the same S&H, label cost, and tax, I call it highway robbery. It's crazy, but I found the identical shoe sold on Amazon. It was an expensive lesson learned.
