Great place! Happen to drive by in the morning & it advertised food outside, so we stopped & had a fantastic breakfast buffet. Great food, great service!

Had a wonderful weekend here rooms were clean and convenient to local bars. Fished and met a lot of locals that were nice. The rooms were easy accessible to the junction to grab ice and food and souvenir sweatshirts for friends. Planning on buying property here.

TL;DR: No staff on site after hours. If there is a problem after hours, you are on your own because no one answers the phone. Small motel (6 rooms) in a very isolated area. Per hotel policy, I had notified them of arrival after 6 pm and received the key code. When I arrived around 9:35 pm, I had difficulty retrieving the key from the key lock-box; I called the posted after-hours number and received assistance. Unfortunately a few minutes later, after dropping off most of my belongings in my room, I accidentally locked myself out of it. The front door key I had retrieved didn't unlock the room door. I called the same after-hours number but no one picked up. Over the next 2 hours, I called over 20 times, left several voicemails and also texted and emailed, without response. The area was deserted, I was out of drinking water and there were no toilets nearby. I ended up calling the police, who also tried to contact the owner without success. In the end, an officer arrived and suggested trying the windows. With the help of two other hotel guests, the window was opened from the outside (without damaging it) and I was finally able to get back into my room by 11:40 pm. In the morning the owner was quite nonchalant about it, claiming that he had poor reception and didn't get any messages until 5 am. Since the owners don't want to be bothered after hours, they could at least update the door locks to modern keypad locks to prevent accidental lockouts. The room was otherwise spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and pillows. Room amenities included minifridge and microwave. Conveniently located power sockets. Bathroom with shower and toilet only, however the sink wasn't right in front (as it's usually the case) but located along another wall int the room. Shower with good water pressure. Wifi provided (I didn't have time to use it). Easy parking in front of the building.

We visit yearly from Washington State, seeing family in Duluth and Butternut, Wisconsin. Our journey between the two places takes us through Clam Lake. The J is a fantastic stop. They seem to have whatever you need, plus the owner (I think he's the owner) is simply put, a super guy. We always enjoy stopping there.

One of the best pulled pork sandwiches I’ve ever had! Really good sized portions too. The service was fast, bathrooms were clean, and the views out the window were nice.

Was super hungry by the time we rolled up 77 in Clam Lake, WI & had to try it out here. Owner Lynn impressed us when he said he was determined to put Clam Lake on the map again as a fave Chequamegon trailstop destination, & increase tourist business. Lots of 4 wheeler & snowmobile explorers prefer to eat here. Chippewa Outpost prepared my delicious, homeade hot Philly cheesteak sandwich perfect, & my partner loved the Walleye sticks. Was already hooked after Todd treated me to a cold, frosty glass of Spotted Cow & Leine Summer Shandy on tap. Only suggestion is Outpost builds a shaded smoker's patio with pet access & improves it's brewpub tap selection. Otherwise Outpost's bar & dining area is rustic, quaint & inviting & food is awesome here!Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.

This is an amazing place. The room was great, comfortable and smelled so nice. The owner and his staff are top notch. Definitely recommend! The gas station had everything. And the restaurant across the street had great food.
