About Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit Headquarters
Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit Headquarters offers over 22,000 acres of forest, prairie, trails, and campgrounds for outdoor enthusiasts. The trails are suitable for both novice and expert hikers, featuring diverse terrain and beautiful scenery. Open daily from 6 am to 11 pm, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, and camping, with the Ottawa Lake Campground office open during the camping season. The forest headquarters includes a museum with informative displays and a chance to purchase stickers. Many visitors highlight the well-marked trails and the picturesque views, especially in the fall. The location is conveniently near Eagle and Palmyra, providing easy access to dining options. Guests look forward to returning, especially during blooming seasons, to experience the changing beauty of the area.
In late spring and into summer, this is an excellent place to quietly walk and observe nature, or to collect your thoughts in a quiet place (although on weekends you may hear more activity at a nearby rifle range).
