Parked at visitor’s center which had no entrance fee. Hiking was easy from my perspective. I’m in shape in early 40s. My sister is not in shape and found it a little strenuous as it is hilly. I was surprised how much sun there was. Patches of trees but also meadows. The land was quite varied. We only lasted two hours before my sister gave out so not sure what the rest looked like but what we saw was well maintained and a fun hike.

Beautiful trails with variations on terrain. Nice spot for the novice or the expert. Just minutes from Eagle and Palmyra as breakfast, lunch, or dinner options.

This place is super cool! Tons of different scenery and the railroad tracks along the trail are just amazing I wish I could have got a shot with the train coming. You can purchase your sticker and they have a museum inside I never knew about along with a ton of information. Highly recommend checking this out! I can’t wait to come back when everything is blooming to see how different it looks.

What a great place to visit in the fall. We drive up from Chicago on a beautiful sunny weekend. Trails are so well marked!! My husband and boys rode their bikes while I walked/hiked with the dog. Highly recommend.

Whitewater Lake Campground & Hickory Woods Group Camp, Site 607: Near the bathrooms, which were clean and well-maintained, never ran out of TP or hand sanitizer. Friendly people camping throughout the park, low level of noisy kids, some barking dogs, but nothing that made it a bad place to stay. The sites are far enough away from each other that only a little boombox music makes it over to where you are. Street noise was the most noticeable, loud trucks going by was annoying at times. Nice that it's only an hour away from Milwaukee. Whitewater Beach is a great place to play bocce or pickleball. We even had fun playing badminton in the driveway at our site, trying to get the birdie out of the trees the many times we hit it too high. We walked through our loop at night with our Jellyfish Lights to give the other campers a nice show. Firewood is available nearby, but the volunteer host was away all of Labor Day weekend so we had to go into town to get ice. All in all, a very nice getaway.
