Fitchburg Public Library is a sleek, clean, and modern building with outstanding architecture and lots of bright, open space and natural light. It is much bigger than some other local libraries. The layout is well thought out, with a great children's library and play area on the first floor offering books, movies, computers with educational games, play tables, puzzles, and fun scavenger hunts. Upstairs features several adult reading rooms, a technology room, a dedicated history room, and conference rooms. The art is a delight. The general selection is amazing, aided by a network with other libraries. Wonderful activities and drop-in programming are frequent. The "Friends" book sales are worth visiting. Staff and librarians are very helpful and wonderful. It is a magical place and one of the last free public spaces. Visitors should check the website for closures.
The building is so new and nice. However I came on a wrong day that it is closed on 19 Jun , the Juneteenth day.

Lots of bright, open space here due to the building layout. Always check their website before going as they close sometimes for staff in-services and snowy weather predictions.
November 2023
We haven't been there in awhile. We went the other night to do an art project in the children's room
