My family has been patronizing House of Homemade Sausage since it opened in the 30's. They have the best sausage in town. Worth the drive. ??

Not sure what is better, the steaks or the service. This is a family owned business and it shows in the pride they take in all aspects of the business. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality! Best in the area!

I have been a regular customer for many years. They have outstanding products-4 generations of my family are particularly addicted to the Hungarian Summer Sausage, the many varieties of brats, many smoked meat items, and hand cut to order chops and steaks. There is not a holiday celebration at my home that does not feature something from The House of Home Made Sausage. Sam, Nikki and Vinny are always so helpful and a real pleasure to deal with. They greet you by name and make you feel like a valued customer. I just picked up my order for the holidays, and cannot wait to share it with my guests.

Love their smoked summer sausage. My co-workers and I would order from these folks a few times a year when we would get a hankering for the Hungarian Summer Sausage. We were so so bummed when they stopped shipping since we are in Colorado. Whenever I hear that someone I know is going to WI I beg them to stop by and pick up a few logs for me. They are so delicious.

Best sausage I've ever had. The brats are fabulous and so are the steaks. The summer sausage and beef jerky is to die for stopping and try it Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday till one.

It's the only place I go to and trust for everything meat. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend them to everyone.

I've been going to this place since I was a child and never 1 time did I have a bad experience. Everything they produce is of top quality but my favorites are the smoked pork chops, Chorizo, and hot pepper sticks/hungarian summer sausage. And they obviously have a good beef supplier because their steaks are of the cleanest, freshest quality steaks I've ever had-consistantly every time. Thanks for keeping the lights on all these years.

I've been going there since I was a child and I've never been disappointed

I've been on the fence about sharing this because I believe in shopping locally, supporting small businesses, and involving my children in that process. But I'm learning that sometimes it's important to speak up about disappointing experiences as well. My Grandparents were immigrants, and up until he passed away, my Grandpa would frequently make the 30-minute drive to The House of Homemade Sausage in Germantown, to get food that reminded him of his childhood. So my mom and I were very excited to stop in today. My children (ages 4 and 6) were also excited to be there, and were pointing to everything they wanted to try behind the display glass. We are always trying new foods and involving them in the process. We were the only customers at the time, and within just two or three minutes, one of the owners came out and started lecturing me and the kids about touching the glass. My kids sat respectfully and listened to what he was saying. And I also made sure to reiterate his message to them right then and there, because we understand that he takes pride in this shop. However, even after the message was received, he kept taking it further and continued scolding them (and me) until they both had tears in their eyes. I know it sounds like I'm leaving out key information. But trust me, I was just as confused. It was the most bizarre experience I've ever encountered. I know he must have been having an awful day, and he took it out on us. I take tremendous pride in the kind, empathetic, and respectful little children that we are trying to raise. I found it noteworthy that he (a grown man) was expecting children to understand a concept that he could not role model himself...restraint. I was so shocked at his rude behavior that I was unable to say what I was thinking at the time. But I owe it to my kids to stand up for them. When they are misbehaving, I do not hesitate to step in and correct the behavior. But in this instance, his reaction was completely unproportional. A simple "please don't touch the glass" would have been appropriate. Perhaps they need a sign that says so. Or a sign saying children are not allowed in the store. I triple checked, and there were NO fingerprints on the glass (shouldn't a high-touch surface in a deli be wiped down every day regardless?). And once the next customer came in, I watched as that man pointed on the glass as well. It's what everyone does. I walked out without ordering anything that I had been intending to, and my mom and Grandma will sadly never be returning either. This probably seems trivial, but mean-spirited behavior adds up. We will get our meat from Helds in Slinger instead, where the kids have always been welcomed. MJs meat market in Hartford is also excellent. The House of Homemade Sausage has plenty of loyal customers, and my post won't hurt that. But the owner should know that he was the first "mean person" that my young kids have ever met in real life. I know they will meet manyyy more in their lifetimes, but we weren't expecting it for a completely unwarranted reason. We were having a great day out with my mom until then. So long story short, local families should consider spending their money at an establishment that values kindness, understanding, and owners who have self-control...definitely not House of Homemade Sausage ?
