Warning for people trying to buy any pets!!!! I went into Petland to look at the corgi puppy they had, not to buy but to meet the breed and decide if I would like a corgi from a private GOOD breeder. When going over the health insurance on said puppy, the worker was telling me what was covered, he said anything that was not heredity was covered, I then asked about Parvo being covered because Parvo is NOT hereditary. This was a loaded question of course because I already knew this information, the employee then proceeded to explain that it's not covered because it's a hereditary disease. DO NOT let this company trick you into buying a puppy. All of their puppy's come from usda licensed breeders. I will put a picture on this post to show you what a USDA licensed breeding facility looks like. Do not support this company, all of their animals come from places exactly like puppy mills and they charge astronomical prices verses getting an animal from a small breeder who truly cares about the parents and babies. I'm sure the employees are trained to say things like that but it still is not okay. Don't support this place.

Hate this place. Owner get mad I don’t care. I got my puppy and he was so expensive. I fell in love with him and decided to pay the $3,600 for him. I decided to go through financing to help my boyfriend with his credit score. They said that it’ll only drop his credit by a couple points and it dropped it by 50 points!! We then found out that we are getting charged a 35% interest!!! That’s more interest than a car or house loan. When I called to ask to look at the forms where I consented a 35% interest, they said they don’t have my paperwork anymore. When I called the financing place they said Petland is the one that is supposed to inform us the interest. Also when I adopted Balto, they said I get free pet insurance for a month for my primary care visits. When I filed a claim, they said they do not reimburse for that only emergency visits which is the opposite of what we were told. The way the owner responds to the 1 star reviews shows that she is far from professional. Can’t wait to see how she responds because it won’t bug me since I’m not the one receiving horrible reviews. Run a better business. If you somehow now find my paperwork, you can mail everything so my lawyer and I can look through it. Thank you. You’ll be hearing from us soon :)

Owner is dismissive and dogs are not well kept. The dogs look sick and I have beard bad things from friends who bought animals here. Not only are their dogs not well kept their beta fish as well as birds are secluded to very small areas and look miserable. Also asking prices for puppy mill dogs in INSANE. And don’t you even respond saying “We DO NOT support puppy mills”. We all know its a lie no need to waste time responding.

We purchased a dog Jan and came back today to look around. The employees were either absolutely racist or didn’t want to acknowledge us waiting to be serviced! Instead they walked passed us multiple times asking every white person if they needed help looking for something.

We got a puppy from them who acts like it was beaten. She won't eat or walk around on a leash. She won't explore the house or yard. She acts like she was beaten and neglected. When we called raising the concerns they said she's just nervous. These animals haven't seen grass and should at very least get time outside of their cage. I really hope this dog comes around because right now she won't eat, play, or potty. The employees were nice when we were there which is the only reason it's a 2 star review.

Very happy with my beautiful cheery girl I got from Petland Janesville. While they are definitely more expensive than going directly through a breeder, my pup was completely up do date on all her vaccines and microchipping which I appreciate. My only complaint is I wish they would update photos on their website especially for dogs that have been there some time. I'd found out the Dalmatian I chose had been there several months and was significantly larger than expected. Not a huge deal but it would have been nice to see a current photo before driving the 2 hours there.

Awful place. The "breeder" they work with is a puppy mill. Plain and simple. If they cared about anything besides money, they would promote adoptions. You can find any breed in a rescue all over the country. Do your research. Also, "USDA" approved facilities only have to provide food, water, and shelter. They don't talk about how their kept, how many times their bred, or the brokers many work with. If only people knew the truth.

Omg when you enter the store you smell is dog pee and poop! The puppies smell like pee and poop! They have wayyyyyyyyyy to many puppies there! And not enough staff to properly care for them!!!!! The two ladies there were doing their best! They were so busy a long line formed to see pups and a line formed to checkout. Need to get workers that can properly care for the animals! Made an appointment to see a puppy! Played with the puppy for a while! I loved the pup so I asked a worker how long could they hold the pup she said 48 hours. I told her I would be back to get the pup I had to talk to my landlord to make sure I could have him. I call the next day to let them know I would come in that day to get the pup the worker said that was fine. Then I received a call about 1 hour later saying the pup was sold. I told them I just talk to a worker and I was told they would hold the pup for me. The lady said she was sorry and it was nothing she could do. I was really sad because my family and I really had our heart set on this pup.

We bought a puppy last week and got him into the vet. The vet told us that the puppy has already been neutered and the paperwork said he hasn’t. We called the store once we found out because we were very upset and wouldn’t have purchased him if he wasn’t intact. It stopped his growing rate way too early. The store told us there is nothing that they will do that it’s not their fault. The store tried to say they havent dropped yet… hes 6 months old… Stay away from the store as they are untrustworthy and break consumer protection laws. Their customer service for people with concerns and complaints is awful. I’ve noticed and witnessed first hand now how nasty they get with customers via phone and publicly on the reviews. The reply is a lie as well. They say they would be happy to look over the vets exams notes they didn’t say that over the phone. And even if they do they wouldn’t do anything for us. This location sells sick or defective animals which is a breach of contract. Unless you’re going to give us a refund or make things right this rude banter on the public reviews is unacceptable and a terrible business practice.

Nice people, but the animal cages were dirty. They were working on cleaning them at the time we were in there, but It seamed as they were just moving the poop to the corners of the cages. Lots of dead fish floating in the tanks. Only a few of the dog viewing windows even had the Brand/Price of the dogs in there. I would think they would have each brand of dog listed in each viewing window. Unfortunately, I'm sure they were short staffed like everyone else.

As a Humane Society supporter, please be aware that Petland stores receive puppies from known puppy mills. Puppy mills are notorious for horrible conditions, dogs are repeatedly bred until they die from neglect. There are thousands of dogs in reputable rescues such as Humane Society facilities. For small fees, you can adopt. Petland is known to finance puppies at ridiculously high interest rates. Reports from past Petland customers have quoted up to 188% interest rates! To make matters even worse, puppy mills use dogs suffering from disease and genetic defects. You risk taking on puppies that are going to require thousands of dollars of medical interventions.Adopt. If you decide that you must purchase a puppy, find reputable breeders with the help of veterinarians, trainers and reviews. Do not purchase multiple puppies from the same litter. Litter mate syndrome is a real thing.Boycott Petland. It is a nightmare for thousands of dogs. Living in squalor, being literally bred to DEATH, the Humane Society wants strong voices to CLOSE DOWN these puppy mills. Write local law makers. Communities are banning puppy mills across the United States.Make your voice HEARD. Talk to everyone. Explain the situation to everyone you can. STOP PETLAND. STOP PUPPY MILLS. STOP ANIMAL ABUSE. EXPLORE ADOPTION. AVOID BACKYARD BREEDERS OF DOGS. NEVER PURCHASE OR RESCUE MORE THAN ONE PUPPY FROM A LITTER. EXPLORE YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION, CAN YOU REALLY AFFORD GIVING AN ANIMAL A FOREVER HOME?Amazing, you responded to my review in thirty minutes. Hopefully, you will be shutdown very soon. Please read other reviews on this site. Buyer beware. I turned on my heel walking in this store when I saw they sell puppies. So, the responder to my review is correct. I am uneducated about this store. They will educate anyone buying from them. They will teach you to carefully read one review after another, after your six thousand dollar puppy costs double that when veterinary care for your new sick, genetically flawed puppy comes home from the clinic. If it survives that long. Get robbed and edumacated, at PETLAND. Stay away, buyer beware. Or, roll the dice. It's your money, spend it how you want!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE - ever!! My husband and I visited the Janesville Petland store today to buy a harness for one of our dogs. Three staff members were hanging around at the front counter chatting. No one bothered to acknowledge us. Even after we were browsing around for 15+ minutes, NO ONE asked if we needed help. We looked around at some of the animals. The containers with the rats, guinea pigs, mice and rabbits had apparently not been cleaned in a while and they smelled strongly of animal droppings and urine. The poor puppies didn't have blankets or toys. Many of them looked lethargic and unhealthy. This is a HORRIBLE store!!

Great selection of pets. I went to every pet store with small pets in the Madison area the other day and came back to buy my hamster at Petland. They have some pretty neat fish you don’t see at most stores. I loved seeing the polar blue parrot fish.

My hamster from a few years ago was fine, however, I purchased another hamster less than two weeks ago, and she passed today. I was told she was 4 months old. When I brought her home, I immediately knew something was wrong with her. She was very inactive, slept all the time, barely ate/drank. Never chewed anything, didn't make a proper nest. Such a shame. When I was there to get her, the ferrets and rats were sneezing, a rat was dragging it's back foot, and limping. I probably won't be going back here again.
