Don't let this one star fool you, they deserve negative stars!! The staff is rude, and the whole place is a joke! Brought in my dog and they were full and couldn't help me. Then a few weeks ago a family members dog was having seizures and they told us sorry we are at capacity and we can't help you! The dog was actively seiezing and they DID NOTHING!!! Then tonight another family member was having issues and came in and yet again they were turned away!! You people are a joke!! What is the point in even being open if you can't and won't do your job!!! I hope you all can live with yourself knowing you are leaving poor defenseless animals yo suffer! You should be closed!!!

I have special needs pups and normally take them to the UW Madison vet school because of some prior bad experiences at local clinics. This is now my second time bringing a pup to VCA Janesville under emergency circumstances and I've experienced nothing but exceptional care and service both times. Dr. Paulson is incredibly sweet and thorough while juggling the chaos of late night emergencies and the entire staff has been nothing but professional in all my interactions with them.I see some of the other reviews here and I can't speak for anyone else, but this is the only emergency vet in the area. They are thus going to be quite busy most of the time, as they were when I was there. The fact that they are able to provide such wonderful care amidst this chaos is very impressive, especially compared to some other emergency clinics I've experienced. We are lucky to have such a facility close by and if I could give them 6 stars, I would.

My local Emergency vet couldn't fit us in "they were at capacity". I called this office and they immediately told me "Of course we will get you in". We had to drive from Illinois so they didn't know when we would arrive. Our precious baby boy stopped breathing about 3 minutes before we pulled in. My husband ran in with him, holding him in a blanket and busted in through an "employees only" door in our panic. The vet caringly took him from my husbands arms without a word about the breach of protocol. They proceeded to do CPR for 20 minutes before finally acknowledging that our boy was gone from this world. They then proceeded to show us the most wonderful care and understanding and allowed us full control of how we handled our final moments with him. We've grieved hard. It's been so very rough. But days later we received a card from VCA signed by everyone. Initially I assumed it was a standard card copied and printed for every client with a loss. Until I read the final line. Our Baby's name was Thorin. The final line on the card:"True friends are hard to come by" ~ Thorin Oakenshield. These people didn't just work for over 20 minutes to save his life, they actually took the time to understand and care who he was.My review is to tell you that these people see these "animals" as souls worth knowing and loving and I will drive to another state continually to have my family members cared for by these people. Our families loss is immeasurable, but it is slightly mitigated knowing he was in such caring/loving hands in his final moments.Thank you, you're angels on earth.

What a joke. We live in Janesville and called with an emergency right before 1 AM, and they said they close in 10 minutes and to take our dog to Madison.REALLY?

Arrived around 330p. Only 3 people there before me. I check in and placed in a room after 15min. I waited over 2 hrs In this room. Not once did someone come in and talk to me. Mind you, I heard conversation on dinner and a whole lot of laughter. I finally pushed the intercom button. Some lady came in and asked what I needed, mind you, not friendly….at all. I said I’ve been in this room for over 2 hours. She stated that emergencies came in and it’s going to be another hour or so. Weird that there’s laughter during “emergencies “ but I asked if I was going to be charged because I needed to go to another vet as MY DOG still needed to be seen. She said nope and told me to have s great evening!! Are you kidding me?!?? I picked up my dog as she couldn’t walk at this point and went to another location were my dog was diagnosed with bloat within 10min of being there! So glad I took her somewhere else. She probably would have died. Questioning the training that the assistant person has had? My dogs stomach was bloated, could barely walk, couldn’t get comfortable and her skin was twitching.I’m a nurse. I understand emergencies but what i don’t understand is the lack of communication. How hard would it have been to come in and explain things? Get it together and teach your staff damn manners and obtain more staff. I will never go back to this Janesville location.

Dr. Paulson is beyond amazing at patient education and providing details on the care our dog was receiving. She went above and beyond, the day after she called to follow up on his progress. We couldn’t thank her enough!

DO NOT CALL JUST GO IF IT'S AN EMERGENCY! I made the mistake of calling first, as I have been asked to do, and was turned away. Saturday night around 10pm I called them telling them our dog was having trouble breathing, couldn't move, barely opening her eyes, and you could just tell she was struggling to breathe. I was told they were at capacity, couldn't take anymore patients, and they close at 1am. I tried to get her to make an exception so, the lady put me on hold to check with the doctor and when she came back she said the doctor said they couldn't take anymore. We were told to go to Rockford or Middleton. Rockford didn't answer the phone. Middleton was at capacity as well and when she asked the doctor there we were told to get her there as soon as we could. About halfway up to the Middleton location she stopped breathing. I cannot wrap my head around how they can turn away someone who has a pet that is having trouble breathing.Maybe if I just showed up with her they would have seen how bad she was and would have taken her. At minimum she definitely would have had a better chance if she was seen within 15 mins of my first call.

Our dog was in distress and when we called the refused claiming they were full. They are 15 minutes from our home but we needed to take her 1 hour away. She died 1/2 way there. Please do not claim you are an emergency clinic. We in Janesville that will take emergencies.

Spent over six hours at this "emergency" center. Five and a half in the exam room waiting to be seen. There was only one vet on staff on a holiday weekend. The vet took a biopsy from my pet that I did not authorize and then insisted that I pay to have it analyzed. I declined the analysis and it was still in my bill. The tech argued with me about it and I just paid for it, as I had been there going on seven hours. The "workup" was presented like a sales pitch. I felt like I was being held hostage to receive care for my pet. The vet was trying to upsell unnecessary procedures. I will never go here again. I would caution anyone needing emergency treatment for a pet to look elsewhere.

We are so happy to have you open again! It has been reassuring to have VCA in town when we have needed you for a leg puncture, a tooth getting knocked out, and even as an end of life option when our regular clinic was closed. Thank you for being available and so supportive when we have needed it most!

I take my cat in because she hadn't eaten or drank anything in over 24 hours and has diarrhea with blood in it. Mind you, I'm the first person in the door when they open at 5pm. and my cat is the first patient sent to a room. The vet tech is obviously new and doesn't write down the symptoms correctly as I explained them. We then wait 45 minutes before she returns and said they need the room for an emergency and we would have to go back out and wait in the lobby. She continues to explain it might be another 2-6 hour wait. Now please help me understand if we're the first ones there and you can hear other animals being directed to rooms also, why wasn't we seen in the 45 minutes we waited before "THE EMERGENCY" arrived. I understand emergencies happen but again we were the first ones there. Somethings not right, and I got the feeling my cat wasn't worth their time. The only good thing was I wasn't charged rent for the chair I sat in.

We were directed to this ER Vet from the Rockford location. My Golden Retriever ate an entire ear of corn after my son dropped it on the floor at dinner time. I called ahead and they jotted down that I was coming in later. This ER Vet exceeded my expectations. Every staff member was kind and you could tell they really care about their patients. I was so relieved when they told me my dog wouldn't need surgery. The vet came in and explained everything and went over the x-rays with me. The visit was long but I think they were very busy. Overall, I'm very happy with their service. I would recommend them to anyone in need of an ER vet.

We want to thank the Janesville Veterinary Emergency Services team for helping us through a very difficult evening, when we said goodbye to our beloved dog, Chloe. They were compassionate, professional, loving and kind to Chloe and a huge support to us. They gave us time to say our final goodbye and never rushed us through the process. Thank you very much for all that you did for us and Chloe.

Took my dog in for fever & lethargy. They did an initial exam & came back with an estimate for $1000 for more tests. All tests came back normal. Suggested we take her to their hospital, with another estimate for $2000. Took her to the hospital & left her there for the night. Within an hour & a half, got a call that it was aseptic anal gland. This should've been caught on initial exam!

I noticed a lump near my cat’s backside. When I arrived at this VCA,I specifically told the Receptionist that I was concerned about the lump.About 4 hours later they called and said to come and pick Chester up.They did 3 tests that all came out normal. They said Chester was fine.I assumed that when I read the paperwork at home it would explain what they think the lump is. BUT NO!!Not one single word addressing the number 1 reason I brought Chester there, to have them examine the lump.I clearly told this to the Receptionist when I arrived!!! The Dr. didn’t even mention it when she talked to me!So, $516.00 later I still have no answer to my issue…Two weeks later the lump had increased in size and Chester couldn’t walk anymore. When he stopped eating I knew it was time. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and my heart was crushed!Ignoring the lump at the Clinic in Janesville is why my Chester, who I loved dearly, passed away. The local Vet said it was cancer.I would NEVER go to a VCA Veterinary Emergency Clinic!!I also don’t like that you can’t stay with your animal while he’s in the back.I understand that it would be different for really severe injuries, but I would like to see exactly what is going on back there…
