Was easy to make an appointment. On my appointment day was in and out. Good staff and decent prices.

I definitely do not recommend this vet. We had an appointment set up for a specific reason for over a month, then on the day of as we drove all the way there and arrive into the parking lot and call the number on the door to get in is when they identified having a difficulty and uncertainty in what we needed done. They initially did not even want to let us in for the appointment. They are truly not receptive and will give the run around when they can. I recommend finding another vet if you are able to.

The staff and doctor completely missed a serious Yeast infection in our female cat. Her rear end and vagina was very dirty and quite smelly. The vet Dr. Williams told me she was overweight and that was her problem. He didn't clean her rear area at all so how could an examination be done?

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business. We took our dog to UW-Madison for a second opinion and discovered the original diagnosis done by this clinic was off the mark.

Dubious business practices. I was given a prescription for my cat. Though I requested liquid, the prescription was for pills. They told me if I had difficulty administering the pills they would let me return them and give me a prescription for the liquid instead. The practice of allowing customers to return prescription pills seemed odd to me, but I went with it. When I later told them I wanted the liquid instead, they initially refused to refund me for the pills. After some back and forth, they issued a refund and told me I was no longer welcome there as a customer. Despite that, they continued to send me mailings and emails suggesting I bring my cat in. I assumed because the issue was rather trite, that it was water under the bridge and, a couple of years later, called to schedule an appointment for my cat. After providing my information, I was put on a long hold. They came back and told me that "due to COVID" they were booked for a month and a half and recommended trying another clinic (as though the affects of COVID are unique to them). I told them that time frame was fine, at which point I was put on another long hold. I was then told they weren't booking any appointments. One would think if this was true, she would have told me that in the beginning of the call (before I'd provided any personal information) when I stated my purpose of wanting to book a checkup for my cat. More, I expressly found that difficult to believe as I've had doctor and dentist appointments scheduled months out. The woman then took my name and advised they would call as soon as they were booking appointments again. Rather than owning up to the mistake they made in the first place and treating me, as a customer, with respect, they chose to punish me for holding them accountable to their word. They then later lied to me about not being able to schedule an appointment and gave me a false hope I'd be called when they were again booking appointments. Not only is this irresponsible, it potentially could have caused harm to my cat. Blackhawk Veterinary Hospital should be ashamed. I've never experienced anything like this and highly recommend, as they did to me, looking elsewhere.

My cat has been breathing with a congestion/stuffy nose sound. I called to get her an appointment and was told it would be a workin appt for that day and there was an extra $25 charge. I agreed for the necessity of the appt since the vet was leaving the next day to be out of the office for a few days. We got there at the time they set us up for and proceeded to wait 1 hr. To see vet. I felt they should of deleted that extra fee. We were told our cat had allergies and gave her a steroid shot for the ease over other option of nose drops. Three days later she is right back with same symptoms after paying a $100 bill. Will not be going back. Can't afford their practice.

I would highly recommend this vet to anyone. We had been going to a vet when our dog had kidney disease and they didn't seem to want to help at all. We decided to make the change to Blackhawk and they were so amazing. They were able to provide us answers that we had been looking for, for so long. They helped us try out different dog foods and let us sample some without buying to make sure our dog would like it. We also take our other dogs there and they get excited to go to the vet! They are so loving and compassionate. If you want a vet office that is going to treat your animal like their own, go here!
