Blackwolf Run Golf Course is a very difficult and challenging golf course, with a reputation for being no joke. The Meadow Valley course can be in pristine and beautiful condition, with fairways so well cut they are like greens and greens that are even shorter and faster. The course features a nice mix of sand, water, and rough, with sand traps that can be quite deep. There are several blind shots and greens on hills, making it a hard layout that is less about length and more about challenge. The surrounding fall colors provide a beautiful setting, though the course can be walking-intensive with some hills and distance between holes. It is a great venue that also hosts The Frozen Fairways, a neat event with ice skating, curling, and fires. The Baths practice putting green is also noted as fun. Top it off with fine dining in a log home. However, reviews point out that the service has been lacking on several visits, with associates at the front counter sometimes ignoring guests and difficulty getting a server in the bar. Once served, the service can be very good and the food comes fast and delicious, leading to a sense that the venue is great in some aspects but could do better in others. The experience can vary with weather, as wind significantly increases the challenge and cold temperatures can impact play.
Very difficult and challenging golf course, I am a 6 handicap and I shot 91. It’s no joke. I’d recommend playing up a set of tees to have more fun. Especially if it’s windy.
