I have been renting cars from Nationals several times a month, all over North America for almost a decade. I have been a loyal Executive Elite level member of the Emerald program that entire time. I have never had such an awful experience as I did with the management at this location.I originally booked a car as a round trip, picking up and returning to La Crosse. During the week, my plans changed, as this was a work trip and I frequently have to be flexible for our customers. I needed to return to O'hare airport and called the 1-800 number for Customer Service. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and assured me that the change to one way was authorized, and that it would only be an additional $79 to return in Chicago. I agreed to the change, and a couple hours later, returned the car in Chicago.As I am boarding my flight in Chicago, I get a voicemail and then immediately get a statement in my email from National. The person in the voicemail just identified themselves as National (no name or contact number), and told me that they would be charging me a $400 fee for an unauthorized one way rental, and that it was "in violation of my contract".I called them today to reasonably explain the issue and when speaking with the Manager on-duty, she told that it was their discretion at that location and that customer support didn't know what they were doing, and that the charge would stand.I find it unreasonable, and extremely bad business to bait and switch your customers. Tell them one thing, and then do another. I understand making the mistake initially, but refusing to fix it when called on it is the part that bothers me. Regardless if the charge may be valid in their eyes, a person representing the company told me a price, and it isn't unreasonable to be expected top honor it. If you can't trust your customer support to correctly charge people, maybe you need new customer support.Be careful if you rent from here.

Worst customer service I've ever had. I will NEVER do business with them again. The "guy" or like kid, at the front desk was beyond rude and NOT helpful whatsoever.

I reserved a car with a credit card, went to pick it up for a work trip and was told by the person at the counter that they had no cars. He said there’s a car shortage and they’re awarding rentals based on how long ago you reserved. I was never contacted that the reservation would not be honored. A simple phone call or email would’ve alleviated a lot of frustration. No communication and rude attitude.

This was probably the worst experience that I have ever had renting a car.-I reserved the car over the phone with someone in the FBO reservations department. For those who don't know what an FBO is, it stands for (Fixed Base Operator). Most airports have them for private aircraft so we don't have to use the main terminal. When I called to make a reservation, I made 2 (two) reservations. One for OMA airport and one for LSE. When I arrived at OMA my rental wasn't there. I had to get a ride to the main terminal while my wife and kids sat at the FBO and wait for me to get back with the rental. Once I got to the main terminal and found the rental desk, I sat and waited for 20 min while one person was helped, 1 (one) person. Yes, it took that long to get 1 (one) person a rental car. When I was finally helped, I asked what happened with my reservation. Of course, the gentlemen didn't know. I had him look up my other reservation and sure enough, it was reserved to the main terminal at LSE too. This whole thing took about 50 min our of our day. The prices were not what I agreed upon with the person over the phone too. I will probably rent with them again because they are probably the best of what's out there. It's kind of like wearing your cleanest dirty shirt. Oh, I didn't get an upgrade either. I didn't ask but under the circumstances, I shouldn't have had to.

I’m always pleased with National. My last experience at a smaller airport in Lacrosse, Wisconsin was just as wonderful as my experiences at the larger airports. Thank you for making it so easy to rent a car.

Only complaint is that the adaptive cruise control and satellite radio on the vehicle I rented did not work. Might want to have somebody check those out on that unit.

I was at a company training for a week and had reserved a vehicle. Upon returning it the agent was talking with me and we got on the subject of why i was in town and mentioned it was for work. After telling her who the company was she mentioned that our company was eligible for a corporate discount. We saved over $160 which was an unexpected surprise. Really great service from picking up the vehicle and the same great service upon the return. Looking forward to my next training so that i can rent again from National.

Such a Positive experience renting from National at the LaCrosse Airport. Julie went above and beyond being helpful! We were “stood up” by one of the other rental agencies and Julie was able to accommodate us with a beautiful car AND save us money! She also gave us additional helpful information regarding changing our return flight which saved us additional time! Thank you National, and Thank you Julie. You are both outstanding!

I’ve rented twice in the last year and their selection of vehicles have been less than adequate. I received a two passenger truck one rental as that was all they had, and a minivan the next as they didn’t have any full cars available. They are 0-2 in my book.
