If you are a heroin junkie and steal from people or punch your bf in the face right in front of people this place will do everything possible for you. If you question staff or state just how ridiculous it is to be catering to the worst of the worst junkies, you will have to leave. This place deserves negative stars. That is how horrible it really is. Heroin Junkies nodding out 24/7, stealing all your things, trading it for drugs. Thats all cool. Say it isn't cool (which it isnt). Gotta pack your stuff. I'm now headed to do one of 2 things. Drive off a bridge, or start doing heroin. Thanks much

I find it amazing to read through the reviews left on this site. WOW! More than one reviewer would give Salvation Army a bad review...but then when you go and look at their other reviews they are from different parts of the country or reviewing somebody the more expensive eateries in La Crosse. Seems like there are some fake reviews out here. I hope the Salvation Army can do what it supposed to do: give a hand up to those who need it. La Crosse, as a city, is not equipped to handle the homeless/unsheltered issue. This should be handled by the County. The Salvation Army does a good job but will never satisfy those that aren't willing to see it as the resource that it is, not the crutch that they want it to be. Thank you for all you do!

I wish I could donate more to the salvation army because they are genuine in their cause. The money they make from selling their items really does go back into the community. They raise funds for a homeless shelter in LA Crosse which is a godsend for a lot of people. I honestly wish more people had a way to get there or a way to contact them to arrange transport. I try to donate to them as much as possible over goodwill but unfortunately goodwill has a much farther reach.

I have recently lost my home due to some emergency issues out of my control. I am a single mother of 3 and I came here for emergency shelter and they turned me away telling me to call the county. Apparently their help is for single ppl struggling with drug and alcohol abuse only. Families apparently have no place here. It's heartbreaking really. How can u turn away a mother and her children but will accept ppl with addictions and no desire to help themselves?! I left walking in the rain broken hearted feeling lost alone and scared for my family.

Huge variety of clothing styles, brands, and quality, lots of fun to browse and stumble upon a great deal. The staff is friendly and it is too bad that they’ve had some theft incidences in the past. Overall a great store full of surprises. A bit if a hike from downtown La Crosse but still definitely a must-stop if you’re looking for discounted, thrift, or unique clothes and home goods.

The whole place is a joke. I stayed there for six months and I was kicked out for no reason..and they wouldn't tell me why.

Fitting rooms closed which deters trying more items. The selections were less than expected as far as quality and amount. I did find one nice gift item and was half off the price! So trip was well worth it!

The prices on a lot of things were comparable to Etsy or Ebay prices. I go to a LOT of thrift stores and have NEVER seen so many things priced so high - though there were some pretty good tag color discounts. Don't come hear if you want deals on anything desireable. All staff i saw were unmasked (isn't this an organization that is supposed to care about and help people?) and I was kept waiting for several minutes with no one at the checkout counter even though there had been someone a second ago. And even though there appeared to be at least 2 people who were able to ring me up hanging out in back just out of sight. Cashier was particularly checked out and unfriendly. Maybe they were just having a bad day.

Hi, I enjoy going to the Salvation Army to help with different projects. I like helping out when ever I can. There have been times where I have needed a little help with things like milk or some duties. They have always helped me out. I in turn will make things like banana bread for them when the bananas are over ripe. All seem to like it. I also like to meet new people. Hear there stories and share some of mine. I like to share that no matter how rough things seem , just take it to the Lord in prayer.
