This is fun for a quick experience with your kids. Ours had fun sifting the sand to find the “jewels” inside! We thought it would be fun to get gems in order to turn them into unique pieces of jewelry for each of our girls. I know a gal that does this, so we didn’t want to do this feature through Dells Mining Co. The only part of the experience we didn’t enjoy was after talking with the gal about what each of our gems were, as soon as we said we didn’t want to have them cleaned and set, she immediately got up, ignored us and walked away to go sit on her phone. I completely understand part of her job is to sell, but don’t treat your customers like they aren’t worthy of your time if they don’t want to do a secondary service after already paying money. Otherwise we had a great time.

The kids had so much fun. What a great place and a great time. I also had a lot of fun, and when you are done, they tell you what each crystal is very cool

The experience with the dirt buckets was my favorite thing about this place. I got a green bucket and was very satisfied with finding cool gems and stones. I shopped around to the jewelry which can’t not go unnoticed and since I did the dirt bucket I found a ruby in my bucket and made a ring out of it, got sized, and picked my ring out that I wanted to attach the ruby to and I just got my ring a few weeks later and looks exactly how I pictured it. I’m pretty sure it’s a family owned business which is super important to me since corporations don’t deserve my money. Hehe

A lot of fun bringing the kid here! My wife is really into collecting rocks and crystals so when we saw this, we knew it would be right up our alley! The buckets are good. They range in price from 20 bucks to 150 and it looks like you get what you pay for, if not a bit more! The person explaining everything answered all of our questions and it was fun digging through the dirt to find the treasures!Thank you for the great time and we will definitely be back!

Love this activity, buckets of sand full of crystals and gem stones. Fun for all ages, there are 1 dollar off cards at all the kiosks with brochures. Not a long activity but it's great on duck boats or jet boats. We always stop here. One of my favorite things to do here, Don't tell on me though. The fam drags me to everything, this is the one thing I love. Will be back, and I highly recommend.

This is absolutely one spot my daughters always ask to go to!My only complaint is that when we got there the attendant saw me and another family he started to explain the process to the other family then 3 other families arrive on the other side the guy looked at me and my daughters walked away and attended ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD COME AFTER US. Finally after 10 minutes the guy made his way back to us. If my daughters hadn't wanted to do this, I would have left.

This place is fun for the whole family. You get real raw uncut gemstones (emeralds, rubies, sapphires, garnets, rose quarts, smoky quarts, bloodstone, and others. Price goes by the bucket $18.00-$150.00. We bought 2 $38.00 buckets. And you get gemstones that are from 1-78 carots, and in each bucket, you ge a 1 carot cut and polished gemstone worth your bucket. The higher the price of the bucket, the better sized carots of your gemstones. And whatever you find, you keep. And then they tell you what they are when you're done.

Great fun for 9 year old... he loved the experience of sluicing for gem stones.

Our son (8) loves rocks and had a great time. More expensive than we thought (there are multiple bucket prices) - we did the 2nd cheapest bucket for $38. He really loved the experience and it was fun to get it all identified. We also had a small geode cracked open which was cool. We were in downtown location - not as much character outside but it was a really nice shop. Worth stopping even without the mining experience- many beautiful rocks, geodes, and jewelry for sale. Nice place.

We ended up buying 3 red buckets, which were about $40 a piece. I was disappointed with the amount of gems and crystals that were given in each bucket. For the cost, they could offer more per bucket. We did this about a year ago and purchased a custom ring with the gem that they enclose in a baggie with the more expensive buckets. It was well over $100 and was mailed to us. The ring is completed tarnished and unable to be cleaned, so I don't recommend doing this.

Avoid at All Costs! They don't list the price of buckets on site (or their website as of 5/28/23) but the young salesmen wave their hands and call out prices. We took two (2) buckets that we thought should cost ~$125 so image when I found out they charged us $210. Don't go there unless you get a firm price and you get what you paid for.

Absolutely ridiculous. I was sitting with my girls there for 10 minutes and asked about a bucket and then the red headed girl says oh we aren't selling any more buckets today.. but they seen us sitting there the whole time And couldn't say something? Was it because we are Hispanic?

Says it opened at 930am, but when I arrived at 945am, they were still setting up it seemed. 2 people walked by me & didn't say anything & the 3rd person finally acknowledged me & said they were still setting up.Buckets ranged from prices of $20-100+. The more expensive the bucket, the better gem you were guaranteed (placed in it's own bag) inside the bucket, plus whatever other stones you may find.It was fun to look for gemstones, but seemed the lower priced buckets had just as many or more, than the higher priced buckets, except for the guaranteed gemstone. Found some neat and good sized gems, but again, the lowest priced bucket had as many it seemed. Out of 2 lower priced, it even had some gemstones that I didn't have in 2 higher priced buckets. So if I did it again, I'd do multiple lower priced buckets. They explained what you found and offered to place anything in a setting, especially the cut/polished gemstone from the bags. They weren't pushy for the sales, but personally felt if you chose not to do a setting, they were done with you, especially the first girl. I said I'd hold off for now & she just got up and left, but 2nd gal was better it seemed. It's a neat place and a fun experience. I would recommend giving it a try.

I am addicted to mining. We stopped here while on our trip. We did the $38 bucket. Got some good gems, the girls will come by when your done and sort out what are gems and what is just gravel. One thing I did notice is that she grabbed 2 pieces and it looked like she went to rinse them off but she tossed then back into the water, wasn't to happy about that. Kinda sneaky. I did like the fact that when your done they will tell you which gems are which. And talk to you about putting them in a setting, a little pricey, but still a fun activity .
