They took in my house sparrow that every other rescue I contacted refused to help because it is not a native species and just left it to die!! Fellow Mortals were so extremely helpful and care about EVERY living being!!! They are the BEST!!

I was not aware of this Hidden Gem, Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital, until July 4, 2023. On that day, my husband and I spotted an injured hawk on the side of a very busy highway. Upon examining the hawk closer, it appeared to have a broken wing. My husband and I were successful in getting the hawk further away from the road and into a wooded area as it was very hot and humid out. I called numerous organizations, including the Wisconsin Humane Society and the local Sheriff’s Office, for assistance. No one was either open or willing to assist. I then searched the internet and the only organization I could find in the area was Fellow Mortals. I called and left a message, thinking no one would return my call. I was shocked when Mary Ellen returned my call about 20 minutes later, saying that Fellow Mortals would be happy to take the hawk and I should call if I needed assistance in placing the hawk in a box for transport. Once my husband and I got the necessary supplies, I called Mary Ellen back. Mary Ellen gave wonderful guidance as to how to capture the hawk. I was concerned because I did not think I could get to Lake Geneva before the Hospital closed at 7 p.m. However, Mary Ellen and the staff were more than happy to stay later so we could bring the hawk in. Once we arrived, we were treated with kindness and respect and were promptly given the results of the examination – indeed, the hawk had a broken wing in 3 places. The kind and compassionate staff told us about their Hospital and the care that the hawk would receive. While we were there, other animals were dropped off for care – again, even after the Hospital closed at 7 p.m. My husband and I left very happy and satisfied knowing that the hawk was in very capable and loving hands. The dedication, care, and compassion shown by Yvonne (one of the founders) and Mary Ellen warmed our hearts. No life is too “small” for them and I cannot think of an organization more worthy of donations and volunteers. Thank you to Fellow Mortals from the bottom of our hearts.

Our crew at Forward Roofing tore off a roof at one of our projects to find a mama squirrel and one of her babies dead… We look a little further to the left and notice these two little guys still alive and barely breathing. We asked around about who would be knowledgeable on this situation and we kept getting referred to Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital! They instructed us on exactly what to do for them and we took the baby squirrels to them right away. We met Ms. Jess with the Fellow Mortals team and she was extremely kind to us from start to finish. She was able to check to assure us the squirrels were okay and also informed us they were both boys. Ms. Jess let us know it’s really cool because two female squirrels around the same age were just brought in a couple weeks before! Overall we are very thankful this business is around and offer this service for wildlife! We wouldn’t have known what to do without them! Thank you Fellow Mortals Wildlife!

Walking late in the evening with the dogs, we found a hawk baby with a damaged wing, and since we were very worried about him, we decided to help him and, on the advice of our veterinarian, we turned to the Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital. We left this wonderful baby in the care of two lovely women who helped us with this. We really hope that he will return to wildlife safe and sound. Thank you for your concern for wild animals!!!

Have great respect & love for Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital. They have helped me in situations of injured or found Wildlife I found. I always contributed if it weren’t for the foundation what would I’ve done even though I grew up always helping my mom & dad nursing wildlife back to health. Our neighborhood someone was always bringing baby bunnies & birds to us. Such a feeling of accomplishment to them who we were able to save. Thank you Fellow Mortals & staff & to those who support them. Just finished reading issue 55 -2022 in Review. ❤️

This place goes against the DNR! They come and try to capture animals who the DNR clearly say are fine where they are located. Citizens of Kenosha are watching for these poachers and we will run them out of Kenosha however we need and I’m reporting this poaching organization to the DNR!
