I go to Budget Bicycle Center on Regent St for all of my bicycle needs. Staff treats everyone with patience, respect and dignity. They listen to your needs and help you find the right bicycle for you. They have also fixed various flat tires I encountered on my commuter bike over the years I bicycled to work at UW-Madison. I have purchased new and used bikes from them for years. I LOVE the Trek FX Sport 4 fitness bike I bought from them in April 2023. I already have 968 miles on it and took it with me for bicycling in Glacier National Park in Montana in July. Thanks to everyone at Budget! You're the BEST!

Over the family weekend at UW-Madison and after realizing my son's bicycle had major braking issues that I couldn't fix, I had the opportunity to experience both the repair team and the sales team at Budget. Every one of the employees I encountered were welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. On top of all of that, they were kind and understanding regarding the situation we were in - wanting to do what makes economic sense for the short-term and long-term. Due to the cost of brake replacement and the tenuous condition of the bottom bracket, we did wind up buying a new bike with the sales team given the expected end-of-life coming soon. The new Marin we purchased is perfect for him. Thank you so much for your expertise and advice.

Staff is so knowledgeable and thoughtful. Honestly feel like the staff really cares about us personally getting the right bike for our style of riding. Purchased here over many years, the care has always been of this quality.

Hopefully you won't get a flat tire and need Budget Bicycle to get you on your way again, especially if you happen to own an electric hub bike with a carbon belt drive. That last part might sound fancy, and difficult, but it took them about 15 minutes to fix and cost me $58. $58 for a new tube and labor. That's it. It seems they charge $45 labor to tackle such a difficult job. Hope you don't get gouged like I did if you get stranded anywhere near Budget Bicycle Center.

When we were buying the bicycle we worked with Lane. He was pleasant and knowledgeable! I was happy to buy the bike. After I got the bike home I took it for a ride and decided it really wasn't as powerful or very good quality. As I was charging the battery I bumped the chain guard and it snapped. Upon looking closer I saw that it was so cheap, so I started looking at the rest of the bike and thought for almost 3 thousand dollars it really was bad quality... I felt buyers remorse and felt like I was really getting ripped off! The bike wasn't near as nice quality as other bike shops for about the same amount of money. I called them up and told them what happened to the chain guard and they said bring it in and "we will put a more substantial chain guard on it"After thinking about it and looking over the bike I guess I felt that I paid way too much for the quality. So I took it back on a Monday, bought it on Saturday, had it 2 days. They ended up keeping almost 150.00 because I upgraded my seat and bought a basket. And charged me 50 dollars for the flimsy chain guard that they were going to replace for nothing until I returned the bike and the seat was not in the packaging and the basket was put together I had to keep the assessories. I think their return policy should of been explained to me, at the time of purchase. My advice is to look at the quality of everything on the bike and ask yourself, Is this bike worth what they are selling it for??

Have an expensive electric bike which I did not buy from Budget. Motor died after being caught in rain storm. Took it back to the original dealer I bought from and told them a bike motor of this quality shouldn’t fail a a result of exposure to rain. They said sorry, out of warranty and estimated $1000 to $1500 cost to fix. Couldn’t believe a well known electric motor manufacturer wouldn’t stand behind a failure like this, even if warranty expired approximately 1 year ago. I then took it Budget Bikes, which I believed has very experienced tech’s, to see if they could help. To save a lengthy story I ended up with a tech they call “the Reverend” who was able to convince the manufacturer it was an unusual failure and the manufacturer agreed to replace the motor as under warranty. The Rev did a complete once over of the entire bike and made other corrections as a result of the bike not being assembled properly originally. He is extremely knowledgeable, and kept me informed with frequent calls and updates. Can’t recommend high enough!
