I came in to close my account. Tell me why it took Rene Kaiser more than 20 minutes to close it while she was talking to her coworkers in the back area. It was not busy and I have closed accounts before and it only takes a couple minutes. Then she calls me 7 days later to tell me it’s not closed and that a transfer went through and I called her back and told her just to write me a check for it and she never called me back. Why was it not closed right away? The transfer would have not went through if it was. She wasn't sure what to do which doesn’t make sense either. I don’t know if my account is closed or not… update: I went to the Verona branch they were much more professional and took care of me and squared away right away. I don’t recommend this branch .

I was a customer of Capitol Bank for 23 years. I always felt like there was a yoke around my neck. I received no help during covid from this bank, although I was able to get two low interest SBA loans for my S corp and my LLC, as well as grants from Dane Buy Local. They continuously set the loan renewal for short periods, charging exorbitant renewal fees. It was especially difficult during the economic downturn of 2008. They even tried to foreclose on me, even though I had never missed a payment. I went with Capitol Bank because Todd Geltemeyer, who I met through an economic redevelopment coprporation, had transferred to Capitol Bank. He eventually left, but I was roped into the loan, with little option to transfer to another bank. I have finally been able to switch to One Community Bank and have received excellent service there. I wasn't even able to access my account online with Capitol Bank, whereas, with One Community, my payments are automatically deducted and I can check my payments easily online. I would recommend going with One Community Bank for all your business needs.

I bank at Capitol mainly for savings, and their staff have been very helpful and communicative about deposit rates. And so far, every single person has been quite friendly! I live about 35 miles away, so they've done a good job with phone calls and eSignatures, when applicable. The only small gripe I have is that their online banking does not yet integrate modern MFA/2FA.

I had a business mortgage with Capitol Bank for 22 years. I went there because my original loan officer, Todd Geltmeyer transferred there. He later left. My experience with Todd was excellent. However, his hands were tied by the unfriendly, abusive business practices of his superiors. My loan was renewed annually so they could get the most fees possible. During the recession of 2008, their loan officer, Derek, tried to foreclose on me even though I had never missed a payment. They refused to help in any way during covid, with a PPP loan or EIDL. I felt like there was a noose around my neck the entire time I did business with them. Luckily, I have now been able to transfer my loan to One Community Bank, where Tom Long has been most helpful in assisting me with my loan. I would not recommend anyone do business with Capitol Bank.

Capitol Bank completely converted me to the power of and the need for having a local bank. They helped me make payroll for my small business when I would have missed it and I'm forever grateful to them.I'm a business owner and have the typical all-digital and digital-first attitude of most Millennials. I'd been banking personally and for my business at a major national corporate bank for years and didn't fully see a reason to switch. But I dipped my toes into Capitol Bank to try out the Profit First accounting system for small business owners in which you allocate money to specific checking accounts to make sure you're making a profit and leaving enough to pay yourself. This went swimmingly for my Tax and Profit accounts, and I was blown away by how friendly and helpful the staff were at Capitol Bank. So I took it to the next level by setting up specialty Payroll and Emergency Fund accounts and an HSA. I was extremely nervous about the Payroll account because I never wanted to miss payroll for my employees. Kari and the team made setting up all these accounts a total breeze. The "final big bank trouble" came when I tried to transfer the money from my national bank to Capitol Bank. Even though I'd sent money to the same Routing number before, they flagged the transfer and held it up. I spent hours on the phone with people in their national offices trying to reach someone who could send the money through so I could make payroll. After hours of attempting to reach someone who could help me, I finally got ahold of someone who had to confirm my identity. When they did so, they asked me for my driver's license number and when I told them they said it was incorrect and that they were supposed to hang up. It turned out they didn't even know I'd been living in Wisconsin for over 10 years and didn't have my WI license on file. Even after they confirmed who I was and I said to send the transfer through, they said they couldn't promise it would arrive in time.So that's when I contacted Kari from Capitol Bank to let her know a major withdrawal would be coming out of my new account even though I hadn't yet transferred in the funding. She just thanked me for the heads up. Sure enough, payroll had to go through before my national bank sent the money, and CAPITOL BANK COVERED ME UNTIL THE TRANSFER ARRIVED! This was the nicest favor anyone had every done for me during my six years in business to date. They knew who I was and they trusted me to pay them back. And they even waived the overdraft fee.I was on the floor about the difference between my impersonal national corporate bank and my local Capitol Bank. I'm now planning to move our other accounts over and apply for their mortgages and business loans. I can't recommend Capitol Bank highly enough and switching so you have someone local you can contact when you need to move money.

Not a customer of the bank. But wanted to state that they participated in “Power of Community” week amidst the COVID pandemic by having lunch catered in for healthcare workers at the nearby Dean Clinic. We were so grateful and surprised!!! It was much appreciated!!

The service here is outstanding. The atmosphere is really community-oriented, which is so nice compared to big banks where you feel like a number. The front desk people and tellers are always friendly--even recognizing me if I'd been there recently. They were hugely helpful in helping me set up bank accounts for my father's estate, making that tedious task much more manageable. I've had a variety of accounts here -- mortgages, business, personal checking/savings, and kids accounts. I highly recommend them.

The staff at Capitol Bank is unfailingly courteous, professional, and friendly. I can count on Anne Conlin, Jody, Val, Ellen, and, indeed, everyone to provide reliable and accurate advice at any time of day. I trust them. With them I feel secure that my money is safe. Together we make wise financial decisions. Capitol is my neighborhood banker.

Capitol Bank is a “community bank†and everything that comes to mind with those words is real, authentic and honest. I want a bank that is rooted in my community and where people know my name when I come to do business. I value Capitol Bank's “people-first philosophy.†They help me figure out what I need and they deliver.

As a first time home buyer, I was very nervous about the mortgage process. Capitol Bank made the process easy and understandable. It was and continues to be a joy working with them!
