Old school hockey rink. It serves its purpose for youth hockey games

Coffee is terrible. I can feel the asbestos creeping into my pores from this building.

This is where the UW Women's hockey team plays. An awesome experience, plenty of seats and great atmosphere. Cashless now for all purchases.

If you like skating on the faster side, I’m not sure I would come here for public skating. There seemed to be a lot of instructors teaching on the ice, and in general, I just felt like I was in everyone’s way. It would probably be fine if you want to try to find a quiet corner to practice something, but you won’t be skating around the rink with any speed.I also took several skating classes here in the past and loved all of the instructors, but felt like the rink tries to cram too much stuff on the ice at once. In my classes, your group only gets a very small section of the ice rink to practice. It made it really difficult to spread out and practice the skills that are easier with a little speed. I still learned new skills, so I was happy, it just was a suboptimal setup.I wish the lobby area had more seating, it gets super crowded before classes start and there honestly isn’t enough room between groups of people getting on and off the ice. There’s a lot of kids here running around and screaming loudly, which isn’t the rink’s fault, but worth noting. So.. plan to have children screeching in your ears as you try to put on your ice skates, because there’s only one small area they let you use to get on the ice (which always has kids running around). The quality of the ice is not great, I could be crazy but there are sections where the ice feels like it’s uneven (like there’s a depression in the ice). This is the only ice rink in the area I’ve experienced that.Overall, I do recommend the classes here, but I’d probably go elsewhere for public skating. I think if they added some more bench seating and allowed you to get on the ice using more than one door, it would be a lot less frustrating. Hopefully their recent GoFundMe helps with some facility upgrades, though I think most of those were slated for Madison Ice Arena on the west side.

Fairly old indoor ice arena. Wooden/plastic bleachers on both sides of the rink, and a concession area on the south end.

The oldest indoor arena in Madison. So many memories in that old “barn”!For those of us who are “long in the tooth”, we can close our eyes and see Badger Bob out there running practice.Still a great place to watch a hockey game.Yes, it needs a lot of work…but, if I had children, I would want them playing there!

When 3 out of the five urinals are operational, that is a good day. There is a kid urinal on the other corner that isn't visible.

My kid takes ice skating class there-so far likes it. Good ice, little older building.

This is a good place to ice skate. They offer open skating hours that are perfect for families that don't want to deal with cold weather skating. Rentals are available and skate sharpening too.

Not the nicest rink in town, but the community is great and I appreciate having another rink to skate at!

Older rink but still nice enough. Played 3v3 tournament and won. Great weekend.
