The food is good, my only beef is , for whatever reason they can't seem to keep the "Hy-Vee" Take & Bake bread in stock. I've made as many as 5 special trips.

Basically this Hy-Vee location needs to reconsider who they hire into management. I don't appreciate making special trip to refill my pure reverse osmosis water jugs for $0.45/gallon, only to be face accusations that my water jug which had old label ripped off was really a new "distilled" water jug in process of being stolen. The checkout girl who claimed to be new at her job didn't understand Hy-Vee offers cheaper refills on purified water whether by gallon jug or 128oz. Anyway, the checkout associate tries to call over another clueless associate who is too busy to help, then she calls over another associate. Now this guy who comes over "to help" is next-level moron. First of all, he gives me the once over, side eyed look, with his crustyass chapped lips then proceeds to play stoooopid about "not knowing" there's discounted refills on the purified water. Since I was recycling my jug, and had refilled it, the proof is on their security cameras, and the only water available to refill is the regular purified water, not the distilled water, which is why I ripped off my old label, this dumbfuk proceeds to challenge me at the check-out, maybe seeing partial ripped off blue label that usually goes with the distilled water, which isn't available for refill, then says "isn't this distilled water???" Knowing what he was getting at, and accusing me of, pretty much told him, "I refilled my jug for $0.45... don't you know about the refills?" And this dumbfuk proceeds to look at me incredulously like I was lying then he plays dumb and goes "no". I'm like how can this fool be in management??? White boy looks like he's hiding two smuggled Christmas hams under his red Hy-Vee shirt vest is going to trying to accuse me of stealing water. It's like who you lookin at (he)b*tch??? Now don't get me wrong. I am not being a white "Karren" but can assure you that this moron wasn't about to get away with treating me like this just because I wasn't wearing make-up and didn't have my hair done. My shoes alone are worth more than that pig's car. I rescind my use of the word "pig" here, as that is an affront to respectable pigs everywhere. Anyway, I tell the checkout girl after that moron leaves unable to completely falsely accuse me or embarrass me on some level, that wow, "that was RUDE". I'm like "it's not you. It's him" She was like sorry about that. I think approach the customer service desk (did not get in line, just found nearby associate) before leaving and on my way catch this gentleman holding boxes walking past the same desk, who answered my Q, when I was like "is that person a manager" and he said "who" and even though it's rude to point, since "two hams" back was turned probably pretending to be on phone, I pointed and explained how rude he was to me and how I don't appreciate being accused of stealing water that I was just refilling, especially from an old jug. He said he would talk to "two Christmas hams" and sure hope he does- morons like that don't belong in management. Furthermore WTH would be tearing off new water jug labels and opening the seal while making sure the jug has a dent in it, then try to pass them off as a refill or different jug??? Who would go thru all that trouble? Maybe someone somewhere but that individual isn't me. I hope he gets fired. I highly doubt that he had special needs, more like he is just legally retarded. No lie. Point blank period. Life's too short to ruin your customer shopping experience trip to where they will bad mouth you to 100 more ppl and never to rarely shop there again.

This review is specifically for the Bakery department at Whitney Way in Madison. I went in for a catering, tasting 6/23/23 I wanted to order my cake through Hyvee as while for my wedding, so I stopped in to talk to their bakery. They provided me a tasting kit (6/25/23) and told me to call to schedule a decoration meeting after tasting the cakes. I called today to request another tasting kit my kit was accidentally eaten by family and the manager whom I talked too 6/23/23 and agreed she could do it completely refused to make my wedding cake after saying she could stating they are they are understaffed. She didn't know that 3 days ago when my sister picked up the taste kit ! Calling a manager to report this!

I tell myself every time ai order from Hyvee on East Wash, never again. I ordered my grandsons birthday cake, Pick it up and his name was wrong. They did a so so job of fixing it. Party time, put candles on the cake and realize it's says Happy 3rd Birthday instead of Happy 5th Birthday. Cake was dry, had little flavor and the flavor it did have was not good. Price on cakes have increased significantly while quality has went right down the drain. Save yourself frustration and wasted money. Go somewhere else for your special occasion cakes!

Typical giant grocery store. Not a bad place to buy very basic mass market packaged food -- cereal, chips, and so on. Like most giant grocery stores, checking the expiration dates on perishable food is a must. Finding expired items is not difficult. With an entire refrigerated case filled with sour cream, of all things, this isn't surprising that product doesn't move before it goes bad, but that's how it works when there's a big ole store to fill. Maybe stock more Organic Valley milk so it isn't out of stock every other visit? I don't know, I'm not a grocery store manager -- maybe that's a terrible idea.Like most giant grocery stores, items are arranged not in ways that make them easy to find, but in ways that encourage more buying. If you want cheese, for example, there are at least three places to look. Seafood department isn't good. Not only is general freshness an issue, but the greenwashing is inexcusable. Signs everywhere proclaim that "100% of Hy-Vee seafood is responsibly sourced" but they offer seafood items that are not -- the bottom trawled Argentine shrimp caught my attention.

DO NOT buy meat from this store. We bought salmon tonight and it was NASTY and the meat counter associate was zero help when asked questions . Furthermore, this grocery store is priced higher than local competitors... for no reason. You'd think if they have the audacity to price the food they sell at least 10% higher, there'd be a reason. There isn't. Steer clear of this grifter store. Don't pay the Hy-Vee tax.

I always get my kids birthday cakes here. There was a mishap with my online order, but they were quick to reassure me it would be taken care of. They do a great job and my cakes always turn out exactly how I expect them to.

I stopped at the HyVee on East Washington Ave in Madison, Wisconsin on a Tuesday evening, around 7 PM, to get orange chicken to go. Not only were they out of the orange chicken, they were out of nearly everything else, with no workers to cook any new food. Their Italian food to go was completely shut down, no food at all, and no workers at that food station either. Not sure why, but it was very disappointing.

Huge Downfall in Quality and Quantity. i have been a customer since the store first opened and it was great, But now I always purchased Pre Made Breakfast from your Refrigerator case. For more than month NO BREAKFASTS have been in the case, I requested to have some made and have them cold in the Refrigerator Case when i came in(I use EBT) and there was never an issue with having the Cold Breakfast(Smothered Hashbrowns) until you updated the Kitchen area and Replaced Smothered Hashbrowns with Smothered Country Style Potatoes(Same thing just different potato cut). Called the Kitchen got ahold of your Chef "Renee" who was EXTREMELY RUDE and didnt want to seem to be bothered. Said she would have some out, you guessed it NOTHING was out for Breakfasts. Cmon Hyvee you can do alot better esp for a long time Customer. Renee left a bad taste in my mouth esp with her attitude over the phone, and i once dealt with her in person(she didnt know me). She was even rude then, you dont treat customers that way, as it is i am doing more shopping with your competitors (Woodmans,Aldi, and Metro Market). Hopefully you can remedy the issue or else you will lose a long time customer for good

I stopped by here to pickup a meal. The chicken was ok, but dried out. My guess is that it had been setting for some time. The grocery aisles were nice and orderly while the staff was pleasant. The store was clean and picked up. I didn't wait in line and prices were tolerable. Overall, I had a great experience.
