I'm writing this with care. I want to share our experiences so that the vet's care quality can be improved and other pawrents can be informed. We went to see Dr. Alexis Payette for our cats respiratory problem and a wellness examination. The entire experience felt unprofessional, if not medical negligence. We left feeling unassured, blaming ourselves for not advocating for our cat and ourselves.Dr. Payette failed to perform the most fundamental duty as a vet, to ASSESS the pet patient. While in the exam room, Dr. Payette only stood distantly from the cat and performed no physical exam on her own except for the fact she petted the cat while he walked outside the cage. Her entire "assessment" was based off our commentaries and nurse's handoff. She made no diagnosis, did not inform us what could potentially cause the problem, nor provided any tangible advise on how to prevent it from happening again. We basically presented our own diagnosis and solution and received no professional clinical judgment. When we mentioned our cat has scratch mark on his ear and has more dots in his ear, she said yes the nurse mentioned it, but did not initiate to check his ear. She didn't seem comfortable holding the cat and we had to hold the cat for her to peer into the cats ear. And she never really had a good look. Knowing it is a respiratory issue, she didn't use stethoscope to listen to cats lung even once, at least not in the exam room that we are aware of.Dr. Payette took our cat to the back for antibiotics and vaccine shots. After returned, we asked again if she has checked the cats ear, she said "I forgot, it seemed fine to me", and never mention to check again. How do you know it's ok when you didn't even take a good look!? She only suggested us to use q tip to wipe the ear.Dr. Payette did not debrief us what happened back there except for shots and snacks were given. I didn't believe any wellness examination were performed even though thats what we scheduled for. If any, we didnt recive any results. Dr. Payette didnt prepare us with what to expect with receiving the multiple shots in the next few days, whats normal and abnormal. We didn't mean to attack Dr. Payette as she seem new to practice. However, inexperience should not be an excuse to forgo the most basic responsibility as clinician, to assess. If you don't even look or touch the pet, how can you make any valid diagnosis and prescibe any accurate treatment? Please improve your practice and treat other pets with care.

We brought our 12 week old puppy to Spring Harbor after a less than stellar experience at another local vet. They were able to fit us in quickly to ensure our puppy was able to stay current with his vaccinations, have been very responsive to both email and phone calls, and don’t make me feel like my new puppy mom questions annoy them. Maverick enjoyed his visit with Dr. Payette even though he had to get shots!

I took my first dog here in the 2000s and all the beloved dogs in between and now I take my last dog here.

Incredibly helpful and kind staff, exceptional care. I often feel like an over-anxious pet owner with way too many silly questions, but all my worries were assuaged with no issues. The doctor talked through my options for care and helped me make the best decisions for me and my baby. Everyone made us feel comfortable. My pup has historically gotten pretty nervous with vet visits and especially blood draws, but this has been the least stressed she's ever been at the vet.

Spring Harbor Animal Hospital is truly spectacular. I have been taking my pets here for years and we've always had complete trust that they are getting the absolute best possible veterinary care from people who are committed to keeping them as healthy and happy as humanly possible. Dr. Wilson is an extremely talented and professional vet and the staff & techs are all terrific.

Staff that are very friendly, remember your dog after the first visit (pictures definitely help) and a knowledgeable veterinary staff. Have had wonderful experiences so far. Was referred by my friend that moved out of state.

They removed 14th teeth from my dog without confirming the number with me. And the doctor said her client is my dog so she doesn't need to do this. Lack of communication

Brought my little guy guy in for an annual check up. Turns out, he had lymphoma. Spring Harbor Animal Hospital got me a confirmed diagnosis within 24 hours, connected me with an onocologist, and we started chemo with 48 hours of the diagnosis. We've got a long road ahead of us, the preliminary prognosis is good - thanks to the quick action by the good folks at Spring Harbor Animal Hospital.

I want to give a shout out to Violet. Hopefully she is appreciated since she has been at SHAH for years and has always been helpful & friendly! I was so impressed as recently I dropped by without an appointment to buy some heartworm meds —she recognized me even with my mask on and asked about my dog by name! Appreciate ya!

Brought our cat here for years and never had any complaints. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our cat is in great health and I happily attribute some of that to the care he's received here.
