So glad we switched to UWCU — they use modern processes, their web banking is reliable, and in-person tellers instead of kiosks!

This credit union is very unethical . I opened a checking account with them in 2019 . I had some financial issues and ended up maxing out two credit accounts with them. I'm not denying this. Ended up with them being charged off which I take responsibility for my lack of control. The accounts were sold to a collection agency. I tried to set up payment arrangements with them and was told that they do not do that. Then they said ok you can try and send us 100.00 a month for each but then the gentleman implied that I would never get them paid off. I asked them if they would do a settlement and they said no. Ok?In the meantime, I also had a home equity line of credit which I was paying on. Then we went into the pandemic and I was a teacher and had to wait over a year for my unemployment to kick in and so the credit union was charging me lots of late fees, so I was working with them to try and keep that current, although they had a program to help people with loans to and avoid 30 day late fees which no one told me about. After the pandemic, when I was trying to refinance, I learned about these 6 30-day lates so I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and the credit union removed them. I sold my home in February of 2023 and my home equity loan was paid off and then lien was released and then just today, I round out that in March of 2023, when I didn't owe them anymore money for the home equity line, they took one of the charged off accounts that they sold to someone else and suddenly changed the credit reporting status to say that it was now 180 days late even though, before that I tried to set up a payment plan to repay them the debt. I don't really understand how a credit union can use it techniques which seems so manipulative. It almost was like they were unhappy that I paid off my home equity line of credit, they weren't getting any more money from me, they had released the lien and so they reentered a debt onto me credit report in such a way to make it so that it would hurt my credit score twice. I don't understand the laws with all of this but it feels like this credit union purposely tried to mess with me after I had to get them to correct previous unethical acts in terms of not telling me about pandemic relief and then it when I reported them, wanted to get retaliation. I don't think anyone should use their services as they seem very petty and intentionally antagonistic to retaliate against me. I hope this review helps someone to avoid becoming a target of this credit union as well.

UWCU is the most professional, courteous and knowledgeable credit union I’ve had in my 45+ years, which is why I chose to stay with them when I moved away.

Really liked this bank until about four months ago when I started getting wrongful overdraft fees for forecasted upcoming charges that showed up the day before payday. Interestingly, my paycheck was also forecasted in all incidents but never added in until after they charged me an overdraft fee. Customer service was good in the past, but today the customer service rep argued with me. I spoke with the supervisor who also argued with me. I received the $5 refund but was informed I wouldn't in the future because it was a pattern. It feels like fraudulent behavior on their part since I was never overdrawn. Will be switching banks.
