Malpractice!1 star is too high. The er in particular, (no other departments included), have a cracker jack box education. I was told to go home in pain by a resident physiologist at the uw hospital after the staff couldn't find out the issue with my pain, but come back if the pain persists. Why wouldn't they just fix it if they suggest coming back for fixture? Why not just fix the peopIe in pain on the spot other than making them schedule a completely new visit and pocket the thousands of dollars for the er bill and accomplish zero. Id love to challenge the executive staff to show their qualifications of hiring talent. A resident is the boss. Ha! An apprentice as the leader in a major hospital! Having a dr in the ER that has no idea or experience about the human body is something to smile about. 9.5 hrs of sitting for 2 pictures taken. I can't wait till this is pulled down so I can repost and repost. Your a number at this hospital. Postings stating around the er if you raise your voice at the staff they're calling security and the police, like it's a library. Disgraceful emergency room staff, Uneducated emergency room staff. Just because you have a degree, doesn't mean your a qualified employee in any field. This staff, was completely exposed in quick fashion as clueless. I will be definitely looking into a malpractice case. Phd giving medical advice in a field that is foreign is something else. Good hiring skills for poor quality people. It's a circus and the staff are the clowns

The new setup to sit in a hall, wait, and be treated is not at all efficient and is very impersonal. We have been here twice in 3 weeks, today we were told to come have been here 6 hours and have seen the doctor once. You have a phone to a nurse that they either don’t answer or make you wait another half hour before anyone comes. Just saw the Dr, she was pleasant and apologized, but I told her I was losing patience.

The wait times are THIRD WORLD. Went to the ER a few days ago and after 12 hours they sent me home with a referral to a department I can’t even get an appointment with for a month. Now it’s severely infected two days later and I’ve been waiting in this waiting room from hell for hours and still haven’t been seen by a doctor. $30,000 later and I’m sicker than when I started. They use this stupid system they call “CareStart” whereby they get you in a billing position as soon as possible and then stick you back in the waiting room with an IV like it’s Venezuela. Look at this system. They send patients back to the waiting room over and over. The sure bill your insurance well, though!

My ER visit was very unorganized, with staff who seemed unprofessional and inattentive. We went hours without updates, overheard staff speaking negatively about patients, resident left blood vial and used syringe on table, and recorded notes incorrectly about our care— the only time we received direct attention was when we asked to leave.
We arrived at 6:15 AM and were quickly triaged and taken for an EKG. I was moved to a room promptly and seen by a resident and phlebotomist who collected blood for labs and informed us that a chest x-ray would be performed. They left a blood tube and syringe on the table that remained until we were moved to the hall later. Throughout the morning, we interacted with multiple providers as shifts changed, which led to confusion and repetitive questioning.
The EKG, chest x-ray and labs were done, and we were told they didn’t indicate a cardiac issue. The focus shifted to a possible abdominal cause. An ultrasound was ordered and completed by 11:00 AM. After returning to the room, we waited over an hour without any monitoring being reconnected and without an update.
At 12:30 PM, we had to initiate contact with staff to understand the next steps. We learned a CT had been ordered, but no one had discussed this with us beforehand. When we asked why it was needed, the nurse couldn’t answer. The PA eventually returned and explained the CT was to rule out aortic dissection or pancreatitis, although prior conversations had downplayed concern about the pancreas. At this point, I was extremely anxious and felt ignored and uncared for. I hadn’t eaten or had water since the night before, and it felt like no one was paying attention to my emotional or physical state. I was offered anxiety medication, which helped.
Around 1:45 PM, we were moved to a hallway to wait for CT. During this time, we overheard staff laughing about patients and using their phones, which only made things feel more unprofessional and disheartening. We sat near our original room, which remained clean and unused, along with another room next to it.
We waited 2 hours after being told that I could have a life theatening condition before we realized we had been forgotten about. The nurse even wrote in my AVS that I had gotten a CT scan even though I never left my bed, which was 3 feet from where she was sitting. We decided to take our care somewhere more profesional.

I spent 7 hours in the emergency room yesterday. The entire staff was friendly, compassionate and patient. I had time to watch the interactions with multiple patients and visitors and everyone was treated with the same efficiency and kindness, even when they were met with impatience or helplessness. Excellent work, ER staff!

Staff was friendly and compassionate towards us. However, the communication amongst the team needs to be improved and more proactive. My spouse wasn't dispatched until 6am (7 hours after we were brought into a room). The doctors and nurses kept telling us different things regarding what's left to do before we could leave. I had to flag down a team member multiple times to ask if we're good to go or clarify what we're waiting on. Due to that, I had family members wait 7+ hours in their car since they were our ride home and had no clue when we were actually free to go. The nurse apologized but this is still unacceptable.
Setting expectations up front with your patients will ensure these complaints about long wait times and result in a better experience.

Went in for a simple ear infection was at the ER for 4.5 hours wanted to do a CT scan of my head just so they could charge my insurance more no meds no relief they took so long all the pharmacies in the area closed for the night . Do not recommend if you actually are in a hurry or have a real emergency. No respect for people's time price gouging the insurance company.

I’d give it a zero is possible…
Nasty, dirty, rude and overall bad.
Save your time and gas… just go somewhere else.

My boyfriend was gas lit by both nurse and doctor telling him he has no major issues going off of a two day old CT scan.. not experienced with actual care or anything that isn't trauma related, and they are so unorganized his bladder was examined only and the doctor lied straight to his face that it wasn't his bladder he was feeling when he just said I'm gonna feel your lower abdomen.. Doesn't take a genius to know that's not where your liver is remotely. Total waste of time 6 and half hour wait in waiting room with iv could've been exposed to infection unprofessional and unacceptable one ER to avoid like the plague.

ER Doctors and nurses were great. Registration lady not so much. After waiting 2 hours with a head-splitting headache, having to answer her passive-aggressive, condescending questions somehow made a terrible night even worse. A simple form would be much easier to answer than having to go back and forth with her.

I had the worst experience at this ER. The staff who provided “care” - were openly violating HIPAA. I filed a complaint with their patient relations. Never even received a call back. If you value your privacy and dignity, do not trust the UW Emergency room.

Had to wait 7 hours for an Rx of antinausea meds. Everyone is crammed in the waiting room with IV bags attached to their arms, sick people throwing up in the public bathroom (this was me, there was no other option) no one's allowing me to eat even though I haven't been able to keep anything down for 3 days.. I'm not having surgery, I've asked every single person to let me go to the cafeteria and pay for it myself if I have to (some Dr's think us homeless come in just for food I swear) but now that I'm feeling better still can't eat. It's been 5 hours since they gave me mds and an IV and I'm still sitting here with the same group of people who have been waiting longer. Sick, tiny babies coughing in the worried mother's arms. It's ridiculous

Arrived in UW ER Friday, 12/6 at 5:30. Waited 3 hours to see Start-Care. Told my visit was appropriate & told to continue seated in waiting area. Still sitting in waiting area ... been here 4 hours in waiting area with nothing but an IV in my arm.
