I took my dog to Castlerock to deal with allergies and chewing on his skin. I've definitely spent well over $1000 since December of last year taking my dog in and trying to solve this issue, the last time I went in they mentioned several options. Based on what The veterinarian told me I made a decision and was drastically misinformed about the potential side effects, the frequency of dosing, and in general was just not explained how the option that I chose was going to work or that it would take up to six months to start working. I asked point blank if I would get an allergy test done, and they made a shot, we would give him one at the clinic and then one every 283 days. I was given a simple yes. That's not at all how it works. So if you want to go spend a lot of money to be under informed about the medication that you are going to give your pets and then pay a bunch of money to them only to find out that you weren't told many things about the current medication you are buying. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. When I called to talk to the manager of the clinic they literally told me to go to a different clinic, they clearly do not care at all if you are a satisfied customer or not. Unfortunately I was busy that afternoon and my mother had to take my dog in for me and she did not recall as specifically as I did what was said but she was pretty sure that what she was being told and paying for was not what was explained to us. I would have immediately have brought up that this is not at all what we were told and walked out of that clinic without paying because I am more vocal and confident than she is. As soon as she walked in the door and I saw what the current situation was I told her, no that is not what we were explained at all, she said that's what I thought when they were explaining this to me. If I had been there, we would have immediately left and called a different vet clinic. They clearly care about money and not about customers or pets, and I would never ever take an animal there again in my life. Terrible service, terrible clinic, The vets don't know what they are talking about or selling you....beware. Also, the only option to resolve this ridiculous experience was to give me the phone number for the company that does the allergy testing. Hello, I'm calling from a smart phone and know the company name.....so she essentially offered me nothing. I decided to look up the company and call them myself. I mentioned that I hadn't even started injections, just did a diet change to remove anything he is allergic to in his diet and he already hasn't gone back to scratching or chewing yet. The company representative told me that you are ALWAYS supposed to start with a diet change before ordering and administering injections. Then she told me any vet should know this as their company has extensive information and training programs online and there is no excuse for a vet to not know this. So on top of everything else they sold me meds that I may not even need, which side effects include increased itching, potential swelling of the head, and can possibly even just make your dog collapse. You have to monitor the pet for 45 minutes after each injection, and it takes up to 6 months to take effect and they discussed no options with us about what to do until then, if he was chewing and scratching that whole time. I mean, why do that when we can start injections and a month later when they're not affecting him yet, schedule another visit and pay more money. Not to mention that this is not the first time they tested to see if he had fungal/allergic reactions. Had to pay for several visits before this option was even discussed. So all in all the vet either drastically misinformed us, to get us out bc it was the last appointment of the day, or just had no idea what she was talking about. Either way steer clear of castle rock. They literally offered me nothing to make this right, and literally told me that "this might not be the best vet clinic for me". Let me tell you

My cat Jax, has been having some respiratory issues and the staff was great getting him in and when the first meds weren’t working they had him there for a day to monitor him and give him an oxygen treatment and were great with him. In the week and a half since his last visit they have called to check on him. They have been amazing with him!!!

Their so-called "vets" act uneducated. Suggested I use a prescription med for my cat, but didn't bother prescribing it to me! The exam tables are always filthy!

I took my senior dog to Castlerock for a good many years before he passed. I was always impressed with the compassion and caring of Dr. Kubica, Dr. Thorne and their staff. Even at the end, they were there for us and I can never express what it meant to have a team so dedicated when things were at their worst. I highly recommend them.
