Brigg says they will not cover the warranty on this motor when I take very good care of my equipment.
My local service tech had determined that the ring grooves were all in line which means the loss of compression to begin with and the oil rings were not spreading the oil properly in the cylinder. He sent pictures of this too Briggs & Stratton warranty. They're determination was (it ingested dirt).
As a past certified automotive mechanic I agree with my local service tech. I have also contacted two other certified auto mechanics and without my opinion they determined the same thing as the local service tech.
I looked online for phone numbers to Briggs & Stratton corporate and found several, but with no success of contacting a person. I had been warned that getting a hold of Briggs & Stratton is impossible. At this point they want to make a determination through the corporate office but don't want to deal with the situation themselves. It then becomes the service centers problem and my theory is the person at the corporate warranty has sat behind a desk and never turned a wrench on a motor before.
I have witnessed myself several manufacturing flaws in Briggs & Stratton motors but it was almost always after the warranty had expired. I myself have three more pieces of equipment with Briggs & Stratton on them and I will never at this point by another Briggs & Stratton and do not recommend anybody else to either!
Their warranty and customer service has become deny the warranty to save us money for the corporation.
