Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena is a professional-looking arena for youth and adult hockey players, described as an oasis and Madtown’s Temple of Ice Hockey. The facility features two rinks: Rink A is noted as definitely better than Rink B, which is very tight like a practice rink and has had ice in really bad shape. Rink A has a ton of seats and the Eagle’s Nest for watching games, which also contains a bar. The arena offers multiple levels for seating and suites can be rented out. The snack shop, DCs Cafe, is front and center, offering items like Latzaa Matzza pizza slices, brats, walking tacos, and the popular Sondel Dawg—a hotdog with taco seasoned beef and nacho cheese. However, it does not offer cheese curds. Management has been addressing needed repairs and maintenance, with improvements noted in the goal nets, frames, and ice quality. Communications are also improving. The experience is generally pleasant, with a lot of pride, love and enjoyment felt there. It is a venue for tournaments and also hosts a semi-pro team. While some inconveniences occur, such as game cancellations or sticky conditions in the stands, the overall experience remains positive. The arena is also recognized for hosting special events, including for veterans, contributing to a serious but funny experience. It is an easy place to buy tickets at a good price and enjoy a great game.
