Calling the emergency vet line and having them cut you off and tell you to do the exact same thing you were just explaining to them is not a good customer experience. Furthermore, telling someone to take their emergent pet to Milwaukee is not one bit helpful. Terrible experience.Their oncology (separate experience) was fantastic.

If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. Here is me and my dogs story.I saw some symptoms in my dog that were very concerning. I called his vet and they told me to take him to an ER animal hospital. So I did, I dropped him off in the afternoon with a stool sample (which they informed me they didn't need) and they said it would be a long wait but they would check him out and keep an eye on him. Later that evening they called me and said that he had a soft tissue injury in his lower back that was causing him pain, said his vitals and bloodwork were good. I asked about an xray and she said she was confident in her diagnosis and he wasn't showing a pain response in his spine or any other bones so she didn't take one. She prescribed him a muscle relaxer, pain med and an anti inflammatory. Told me to follow up with his primary vet and I told her I would call them the next morning and that he had a check up coming up and I would schedule it early and that they would do bloodwork, different samples, etc and make sure he is healing as he should be.The next 2 days went by fine, he had lots more energy, I could tell he was in a little bit of pain but he looked to be feeling better. The 3rd day he looked to be in more pain so I called my regular vet and set an appointment for the next morning (that was the soonest they had available). I went about my day as planned and 2 of my kids were keeping an eye on him after I went to work. My daughter called me a few hours after I went to work absolutely hysterical. Our dog had a seizure and passed out. My husband got home a few mins later and he took him to the ER vet again and I met him there. Unfortunately our beloved dog passed away from INTERNAL BLEEDING, not a hurt back. For people that don't know, an anti-inflammatory will thin your blood. So they didn't only misdiagnose him, they killed him faster. Unfortunately their mishaps don't end there. They told me the next steps that needed to happen if I wanted to get him cremated was to call the services they used and arrange for him to be picked up. That he would remain there until I did so. The next day I called his regular vet to notify them of everything and I decided to have them do the cremation (his vet absolutely adored him, everyone there did), but I would have to transfer him myself cause they can't do pick up. I called the ER and let them know I would be coming in a few hours to get him and to have him ready. They assured me they would. About 20 mins later I get a phone call from the cremation services the ER uses and they are calling me to notify me that they picked up Bronx a few HOURS ago and wanted to talk about what I wanted to do next. (So needless to say the vet temporarily lost my dogs body cause they assured me he would be there until otherwise instructed. And I told them I was coming to get him and they said they would have him ready, when in fact his body was already gone).I did some digging after all of this and found out that the ER didn't do ANY bloodwork, and they tried to say that I denied it to be done. THAT NEVER HAPPENED (I had a friend with me the whole time and heard every word that was said that can vouch for me). The only thing I denied was a DNR. And how did I deny something that we didn't talk about until they already diagnosed later that evening when they called me. That was the only time we talked about bloodwork, was when they told me his bloodwork was fine and I told them his regular vet would do a follow up. I had an investigation started and they ruled in my favor, telling me more could and should have been done when it came to his diagnosis and they were very sorry about losing his body. I'm posting this review in hopes that this won't happen to anyone else. It took me a long time to post this review because I was, and still am beyond pissed that this happened and I wanted a clearer mind and not just completely bash everyone there when I made my review. I will never go to this ER again!!!!

These amazing people literally saved my puppy's life. They included all the information we needed to know and also updated us periodically throughout the procedure they saved his life with. Frankie is going to live now due to these amazing people. They have my thanks and my gratitude forever.

Brought Bing in at noon on Friday because he was having trouble breathing correctly. He was seen right away but then I didn't hear anything until 4 pm. At 4 pm I was asked to wait in the private room and that a dr would be with me right away. I waited in there for a half an hour before the dr came in. They agreed that bings breathing was labored but he had responded well to oxygen, so they sent us home. Why the idea that taking him off of oxygen and sending him home would worsen his condition didn't cross anybody's mind is beyond me. Of course his breathing got bad again and I returned with bing at 9pm despite the receptionist on the phone telling me he would be fine. Again, he was seen right away, about 9:15pm and again I heard nothing and wasn't given any updates until midnight. At midnight they again called me into the private room and was told they wanted to monitor Bing overnight. So I waited for three hours to be told to go home and to return at 6am. I was told specifically to return at 6am because the clinic gets busy at 7. I return the next day at 6 am and am basically ignored until 8:30am, at which point I ask the receptionist for an update on bing. I am told "I need to be patient". This is after spending a combined ten hours in this waiting room with absolutely zero communication. Finally I am called back into the private room and the woman who sees me is completely unhelpful, is unaware of any treatment, says she "doesn't have letters after her name" and is unaware the dr the night before was going to prescribe an inhaler. Just a complete mess when it comes to communication and care. I appreciate the help Bing received the SECOND time I brought him in but that doesn't change my opinion. Will never be returning here, I'd rather drive to Milwaukee.

100% excellent. Dr. Robat is a perfect representative of her profession. She took time to explain everything, all available options and what to expect. The staff were kind, compassionate and practically perfect in every way. As it is, my nearly 14 year old husky is not going to get better but Dr. Robat emphasized the importance of quality over quantity of life in such a caring and compassionate way she made a terrible conversation manageable. Her followup documentation rivals anything I've read in hospital charts over the last 25 years in detail, scope and thoroughness. I can't think of a way this visit could have been better aside from a change in diagnosis or prognosis. Superior caring service.

We had to euthanize our beloved cat yesterday evening. We brought him to VCA so he wouldn't have to suffer another night in pain. Everyone was so kind and competent. It made a difficult time so much better. I would highly recommend to anyone!

On 11/11/2022, I brought my boyfriend's cat Savannah into the Janesville, WI, VCA Veterinary Emergency Service for possible poisoning. The veterinarian that I was working with gave me two options for care at the time; I chose the life-saving option, which was to take Savannah to a different hospital that could meet her needs. I was so upset and didn't know what the right plan of action was and began to call my boyfriend (the cat owner) but could not get ahold of him. I went to the front desk and asked them if I could leave to find my boyfriend, knowing where he was but didn't have his phone available to him, before deciding on treatment for Savannah. The person working at the front desk said of course and let me leave. After finding and consulting with my boyfriend (the cat's owner), he chose to bring the cat home. When I returned to the hospital, they performed two services without consent. The first was a Heska Comprehensive Plus Panel +CBC ($255.75) and IV Catheter Peripheral ($73.70). The veterinarian called my boyfriend to get consent which he did not give and said he wanted the cat to be brought home. After everything I had been through, I was emotionally exhausted and wanted to go home with Savannah, so I paid the invoice and planned to resolve the issue the next day. I called Ms. Plumb the next morning at 09:30 am CST and left her a message. Her voicemail states that she will call back in 24-48 hours. I have since then called six more times, leaving detailed messages, and I have also emailed her. I am at a loss as to how to resolve this issue because Ms. Plumb will not return my phone calls or emails. I want to speak to someone. At the very least, as a customer, I find this behavior unacceptable. We put our family and beloved pets in your hands. The least you can do is return my phone call.

This place is absolutely phenomenal. I brought my baby kitten here when she was developing some neurological issues. The staff was extremely attentive and I was so happy to be able to bring her in at midnight and have her checked so quickly. I brought her in the next day as well for an emergency follow-up and the staff was very insightful and allowed me to get a better idea of what future recovery would look like. I am very impressed with the place and would definitely recommend it to other people with emergency vet issues.

Lisa Grulke you are an Angel on earth and truly living your purpose. Please don't ever leave this field as these Furr babies need you. I drove four hours from home with my dog Aries and daughter to a lake house in Arkdale WI for the holiday when my dog got sick with a lot of blood mixed with diarrhea. At 12am I drove here with both of them through immense fog for two hours with my teenager crying in back and my dog bleeding. This was the nearest place to us at the time accepting pets that was open. Lisa Grulke met us and was just so sweet, calmed me down right away, and explained everything from price to potential outcome and symptoms for everything. She truly seemed sympathetic to my dog, us, and financial situations. My dog has Acute Hemorrhagic Diarrhea syndrome and we have now made it safely at home where I'm monitoring Aries and giving medication and lots of love, that I'm praying works. I truly can't thank VCA and Lisa enough! I just wish they were closer to home so I had them near all the time!

I came here for my kitten that had a respiratory issues and wasn't eating. He had a fever of a 103 and I was looking for some antibiotics. He was on it and was done from his normal vet. I was hoping I could get in and get the antibiotics. They told me to go home and just let it run it's course. That was 120 dollars to tell me there wasn't anything wrong. I went back to my normal vet and he was still running a fever and still super sick and they prescribed another round of antibiotics. The vet told me it's because the kitten was so young and it just takes time to let it pass. If that was the case the lady I called and talked to should of just told me to stay home and save my 120 dollars that I called and asked before I came into the vet. If your cat has a respiratory issue I suggest finding a different vet. I was displeased with the service. I'll be sticking with my other vet and will never be back to this emergency ever again.

I can't recommend VCA enough! They were so kind and caring. I called about my dog that was panting and seemed to be in pain and my regular vet couldn't see him until next week. They saw my dog Louie right away. The vet techs/staff were very patient and kind. They took my dogs vitals and stated he was stable and reassured me multiple times he was okay. They were also honest with me and stated that it might be a an hour or so to be seen because my dog wasn't an emergent case. They gave me the option to call around to other vet clinics to see if I could get in sooner on a less emergent basis and if I couldn't get him in I could come right back. I decided to call around. I was expected to be charged for the visit and they didn't charge me. Overall very thankful for the patient and kind staff. Thank you!!

Great experience at this clinic. My dog seemed like he was having allergies or breathing problems and we couldn't get into our normal vet (Saturday). The VCA saw him right away. All staff were extremely kind and seemed like they actually cared about him. I was a little nervous about the cost, but the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend. Due to COVID, the vet techs come to the care, and I spoke with the vet on the phone. I was not allowed in the building. And my dog is fine. :)
