This is hands down the best place for bird feeders, seed as well information about birds. They also have lovely bird baths, fun yard art, and nice bird related cards & gifts. Employees are friendly and provide top notched service.

I've had some great and not so great experiences with various WBU. This place was wonderful and helpful. Great selection of feeders and nesting boxes! A fair selection of birder gifts, and foods. Unfortunately, this store is not close to me as I was only visiting with family. My local store could learn a lot.

A great selection of quality birdfeeders and accessories, and an extraordinary selection of wild bird food. They also have a good selection of binoculars and other birdwatching gear, and an exceptional selection of gifts for any bird lover. Staff are all really knowledgeable, helpful and nice.

We took my nearly 89 year old mother-in-law (who uses a walker) there to buy a bird feeder. While she and my husband were helped by a friendly sales person, I browsed. However, once I finished browsing and was waiting for my family, there was no place to sit to wait, so I wandered the store, which seemed to arouse suspicion with the owner, who kept sending staff to see if I needed help (or so it seemed.) After my mother-in-law had her items rung up to the tune of nearly $200.00, some set up was needed on her feeder which we were informed we had to wait for the owner, Bob, to do. That was fine, but it took a while and there was no place for my mother-in-law to sit down to wait! I even asked for a chair, and my request seemed to induce some anxiety in the employee I spoke to ... and no chair was forthcoming! Don't get me wrong -- the employee tried, but I feel like she met resistance. What the heck? The temperature outside was pushing 90F, so sitting in the car wasn't an option either. C'mon, Wild Birds! I really prefer to shop at locally owned businesses, but was pretty unimpressed with the [lack of] accessibility of the store, and had the distinct impression that the owners micromanage their staff in an unpleasant way. Also -- they need to reconsider their choice to carry Vortex Optics (and only Vortex Optics,) since Vortex states on their website that they are a proud supporter of the NRA!

I have spent thousands of dollars at this store over two decades. I think there’s a new owner, a young man, and he always seems distracted and aloof when he waits on me, never friendly. I rarely return anything but a few months ago, I returned something and he was highly suspicious and unfriendly, assuming the worst of me. I’ve also noticed that he rarely displays any form of gratitude to his customers while I’m shopping and never deigns to say “thank you” to me or the people in front of me. (He mumbles a quick, insincere “have-a-good-day” or something like that, without ever making eye contact.) Historically, I’ve enjoyed going out of my way to get to the store and my experiences have been so good and uplifting that I ignore the high prices and wasted trips on days that I thought they’d be open but aren’t (Mondays and Sundays). I don’t write reviews very often, but as I sit here in my car, after yet another frosty experience from him and an older woman with glasses, and write this review, I think this is my final visit. I try my best to practice gratitude in my life, and I don’t think it’s too much to expect business owners to express a bare minimum of appreciation to their most loyal customers.

Wow, this place always used to have great customer service. Buy seed and they would help you out to the car. Bought 5 bags plus suet and seed log. Four people standing behind the counter chatting. I am the only person in the store. No offer to help. No help even as I struggled with the cart getting out the door with one of my bags dropping off. Customer service isn't what it used to be.

*Update, to the update - we did receive a bag of bird seed, it was shipped out after my last update. I'm thankful they made it right, but questionable ethics.*Update March 2023 - Never received bag of food as stated they would below! Very unethical business! (I did respond to them via email in January)Purchased a large bag of Nyjer seed back in October. The birds have not touched it! We had so many birds before we used this seed! I do not live in the area so I had to make a special trip to return the bag. I still had my original receipt but they "weighed" the bag (still in the original package) and only gave me replacement for less than I brought in. Very disappointed. The birds didn't eat any of the seed! If you have to take your product back make sure you empty your feeders or you will not get a full replacement!

We are used to shopping at a Wild Birds, Unlimited in Green Bay, Wi, so unfortunately for the Madison store, we have them to compare to. The store in Green Bay is much smaller, but also more customer service forward. What I mean by that is when you walk in the door, you are greeted immediately by their staff. Super friendly and helpful! The Madison store is pretty friendly, but you have to seek them out generally to get help. But even more importantly, the Green Bay store hours are much more customer - friendly! I mean, with this type of store... Why would you not be open on a Sunday? Also, they close super early at the Madison store, where Green Bay's hours are more friendly for working folks. We have gone so far as to order our birdseed from Green Bay and utilize free shipping as opposed to driving over to the west side.

This store is great but they need to open another store across town, and it needs a bigger space, good service, products are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for - when they say "No mess seed" they mean it and my birds love it with 'no mess..'It's your everything for [outside] birds store.!

The staff here are all so kind and knowledgeable. The last time I went I accidentally arrived very close to closing time and they still helped me get what I need and didn't rush me. I've attended a lecture about hummingbirds here and it was beautifully detailed. Love this shop so much.

If you love wild birds and garden art, you Will love this store! All employees are very knowledgeable and can help you with which feed to get to attract specific birds, as as well as correct feeders etc. We purchased one of the squirrel proof feeder systems and are now squirrel free as well as attracting a large variety of birds due to the multiple feeding stations on it. Really enjoy visiting this store and look out for monthly specials!

I just had a had a very bad experience here. I bought a cylinder feeder for $16.99 and a hanger for $10.00ish. Bought it two weeks ago in March. The feeder completely fell apart in the rain. I went to the store to tell them and they said it should not be out in the rain. When I explained that the salesperson did not tell me that and that it is March...it Rains...they should have told me that. I asked for a discount on a new one or a replacement of a suet feeder instead (That can withstand rain) they refused and said they could give me a 10% discount....$1.60!!!! I will no longer shop there. too bad, I spent a LOT of money in that store...BAD customer service.
