I have been taking dance lessons at Daync Academy since March. I went from very little dance experience to feeling confident in social settings. Josh and Amber are great instructors and take the time to work with their students. They are knowledgeable and are very welcoming. The environment they created has made me feel safe during my dancing journey. The advanced students are very helpful, understanding and friendly.

I’ve been a student at Daync Academy for over a year and have taken advantage of nearly every class style they’ve offered (e.g., salsa, bachata, cumbia, rumba, ladies styling) along with performance opportunities and private lessons.
When I first arrived, I was impressed with the welcoming, inclusive, and intentional environment. There are a diverse set of ages, ethnicities, and movement backgrounds in classes, and the Level 1 curriculum is carefully designed to cater to that universal audience. Instruction is given in a mix of English and Spanish. Warm ups prepare the body for the type of movements that will be required, context is provided to understand the history and culture behind the dance styles being taught, and by the end of just four weeks—enough basic steps have been drilled for anyone to make it through a social dance.
As I continued, I was impressed with how Josh and Amber diligently worked to progress their students. They adjust the monthly class offerings to accommodate our needs, rotating specialty classes in with focuses on things like body movement or double turns when necessary. Got questions on technique, or otherwise looking for a bit of specific feedback? They both make themselves readily available between classes to provide extra guidance to anyone who wants to take advantage of it. Plus, they are continually looking for ways to keep things fresh—I’ve seen them provide performance opportunities, host a weekender workshop, and even throw a concert-style social with the hottest new bachata artist on the scene.
But lately, I’ve been most impressed with how community-oriented they are day in and day out. Josh and Amber don’t just do this for themselves, they do it for the city and for the culture. They work to partner with and lift up other Latin-owned businesses/initiatives. They hustle to secure opportunities with Summerfest and the Milwaukee Brewers, providing increased visibility/representation of and engagement with Latin joy. They provide as many opportunities for socials in as many venues as possible to establish Milwaukee as a legitimate destination for social dancing.
I can’t wait to see how Daync Academy continues to grow. I’m excited to be part of it, and I highly recommend to anyone who may be interested.

Daync Academy provides a fun and welcoming environment and community. Josh and Amber, along with their other instructors, provided me with so much feedback and encouragement to help me become a better dancer and have a positive and supportive surrounding environment. They are dedicated to building up the dance community in Milwaukee and ensuring that the dancers from their studio leave with solid fundamentals and the confidence to take their skills in the social dance setting. I went from someone with no dance experience to being on a performance team in less than 6 months, and this is due to the encouragement, professionalism, and depth of dance knowledge from Josh and Amber.

The studio hosts many entertaining events, however, it is unfortunate that there are not too many other studios to give our money to. The owners, Josh and Amber , lack professionalism. The studio has a history of overcharging, not paying, and being unprofessional with both students and staff. They don’t even have accredited dance instructors teaching the classes anymore. The “instructors” are students, most of whom have not been dancing more than a year, have no prior teaching experience, and do not know the full history of what they are “teaching.” Daync creates cliques within the studio and it seems as though the owners care more about making money and leaving out students/staff who they dislike rather than creating a safe space for all to feel welcome - anon

Josh and Amber have done an excellent job supporting the Latin dance community in Milwaukee. Daync Academy is a great spot to social dance. The floor was smooth, the room stayed cool the entire time, and people were so nice.

What are you waiting for?? JOIN and START your salsa/bachata journey!!! The affordable first month deal makes it easy to try and you don't need a partner! You rotate and meet everyone anyways.Whether you are a total beginner or have danced before, you will find fun, engaging classes to learn combos or further solidify fundamentals. My favorite part of class is rotating with everyone! Everyone has their feel and touch and that's what makes it fun.Aside from the classes, you will also find a vibrant community of people from all walks of life who are passionate about dance and growing together.I am sad to be leaving Milwaukee, but I am so grateful to have found my people, as well as myself, at this studio. I hope you will too. Best wishes!

They don't really focus on technique. Just a bunch of turn patterns. At the end of the class everyone is usually doing their own thing. But it's nice that they teach a lot of dance patterns. Most places are stingy with turn patterns.
