We had our wedding at St. James in September and could not have had a better experience! From their incredibly helpful and attentive staff, gorgeous atmosphere, and functional set up - everything was truly 5 stars. Our guests had only amazing things to say as well. Kelsey and Danielle were huge players in making our day as smooth and beautiful as it was - they are the best of the best! We’d recommend St. James to anyone!

St. James 1868 is an absolutely beautiful venue — our guests couldn’t stop talking about how stunning the space was, and our photos turned out incredible. The historic architecture and ambiance made it the perfect backdrop for our wedding day. That said, there were some challenges with staffing and logistics. There wasn’t enough staff available to help direct guests to the correct entrances or assist with the handicap-accessible entryways, which caused some confusion and almost caused a medical emergency for one of our guests. The champagne that was supposed to be handed out to guests didn’t happen, and when we had to pivot due to weather, the temporary staff on-site seemed a bit unsure of how to handle the changes. Couples should also know that St. James often hosts multiple weddings back-to-back, which can make the property feel congested and limit available photo space. It’s run very much like a revolving door, which can take away from feeling fully prioritized on your day. Also know that you’re responsible for providing all of your own vendors, which can make logistics a bit stressful to coordinate. I would definitely recommend hiring St. James’s day-of coordinator — it’s worth it to help everything run smoothly. After sharing this feedback directly with the St. James team, they acknowledged the concerns. Overall, St. James is a breathtaking venue that truly speaks for itself — just make sure you plan ahead for the logistics and staffing details to get the most out of this stunning space.

As a luxury wedding musician, it was my pleasure to perform at St. James 1868 for my client’s special day. Everything about this venue is drop dead gorgeous — the architecture is stunning and the acoustics on the second floor where the wedding ceremony was held were so crisp and beautiful that I hardly needed any amplification for my instrument! A huge thank you to the staff, with a shoutout to James, for giving the absolute most professional assistance with loading/unloading my harp, spotting me while I moved the instrument throughout the venue, and even assisting me with carrying the harp down a flight of stairs. They helped me feel very at ease and welcome during the wedding day. My experience with St. James 1868 was a very memorable one and I look forward to being back sometime!

St. James 1868 was the absolute perfect wedding venue! The staff was incredibly helpful, organized, and detail-oriented from start to finish. Our coordinator, Danielle, was amazing — she handled everything with professionalism and genuine care, which made the whole day feel seamless and stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are so grateful for the beautiful memories we made here. Highly recommend!

As a luxury wedding photographer, I can confidently say that The St. James 1868 is one of the most stunning venues I’ve had the honor of working in. It’s a true photographer’s dream—everywhere you turn, there’s another incredible backdrop waiting to be captured. The soaring ceilings, natural light, and spacious rooms create endless opportunities for portraits, detail shots, and candid moments that look straight out of a magazine spread. ANDDDD they have stunning getting ready rooms for BOTH soon-to-be-spouses! Most venues don't have that.
What makes this venue especially unique is the balance it strikes between historic charm and modern sophistication. The architecture has so much character, yet the clean, neutral palette allows each couple’s personal style to shine through beautifully. Whether it’s an intimate first look on one of the grand staircases, elegant candlelit dinner shots in the main hall, or chic bridal portraits framed by the venue’s dramatic windows—every image feels elevated here.
The layout is also incredibly versatile, with multiple floors and spaces that give couples and photographers alike so much variety without ever having to leave the property. And because it’s located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, you can also step outside for that vibrant city feel if you want to mix things up.
From a photographer’s perspective, The St. James 1868 is flawless. If you’re a couple looking for a venue that will make your wedding day look as luxurious and timeless in photos as it feels in person, this is the place.

We cannot thank the St James team enough for everything they did for us from the moment we toured the venue to the day of our wedding. We had the most wonderful day and I would choose St James all over again in a heartbeat. Everything was perfect and we truly appreciate everything they did to make it everything we wanted (and more). Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we felt good, and we received endless compliments from guests about how beautiful the venue was. I would absolutely recommend choosing St James as your wedding venue, they will take good care of you!
