We have perused Townsville at various fairs and festivals over the years, purchasing some of their interesting items for gifts. The variety of things they have has always been refreshing and it seems that every time we stop, they having something new. Unfortunately, our visit to their booth at Bastille Days was not ideal. The initial purchase interaction was fine but a day later when I was reviewing my emails, I noticed that the sales tax I was charged was for Chicago, not Milwaukee. Chicago's tax is almost double that of Milwaukee. I reached out to the store immediately and received a fast response that it was an incorrectly configured credit card terminal due to another event the same weekend in Chicago. I was pleased with the fast initial response but then as the days turned into more than a week and I didn't hear anything about getting my funds back, I sent another email which went unanswered for almost another week. In the meantime, I disputed the overcharge with my credit card company and was credited the difference. Only after that did I finally hear from Townsville, and most likely because they received the notification of the chargeback. I realize that it's only $2 and this may seem petty to some, but the lack of response and that many other customers who opted not to get a receipt could have been affected and not even know it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
