About Monona Community Festival
The Monona Community Festival is one of the largest and longest running July 4th celebrations in southern Wisconsin. This 2-3 day event held in beautiful Winnequah Park showcases the finest in regional musical entertainment, food, drink & fireworks. Many different activities highlight this event including the Wisconsin Wife Carry Championship, Taste of the 4th featuring numerous Madison area restaurants & food carts, a family-friendly carnival, $5000 Hole-in-One Contest, and an art fair. The festival's gala fireworks show has been rated as one of the best in the state. The event is described as a safe, family-friendly affair with plenty of restrooms, water available, and dog-friendly. However, some visitors found the rides and games to be pricey, and the area to be mosquito-infested in the evenings. Parking and exiting the event can also be challenging, with attendees advised to park across Monona Drive for quicker departure. Overall, the Monona Community Festival is a beloved local event that offers a wide range of activities and entertainment for all ages, making it a popular destination for celebrating Independence Day in the region.
