“I always love their sushi and they are amazing with gluten free!Dietary restrictions: Amazing and knowledgeable about eating gluten free. Nothing is marked on the menu because they can pretty much make anything gluten free (at least the sushi).”

“We had our wedding here 11/5/2022 and we could not be any more pleased with how everything turned out! We didn’t have the best weather but the fact they have the main area plus the sunroom/patio area allowed us to have an indoor ceremony space separate from our dinner area which was a key factor for us while looking for a venue. We will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a venue space in Madison!”

“It's no wonder it's hard to secure a date for the Tinsmith. The venue is gorgeous with industrial chic vibes and tons of plants. Lydia, our venue coordinator, was helpful in answering any and all questions.”

“Always enjoy the food, fish, and steak. Breakfast choices are good. Ate at the bar. Our bartender lacked service skills. We felt ignored. Like the supper club feel. Love the lake views.Parking: May need to park on the street. Restaurant has limited parking due to lake.”

“This is a members-only club that has rental rooms, a bar, and a restaurant for its members. I visited this past weekend for my mother-in-law's birthday dinner as my brother-in-law is a member. Unless you have paid for parking through the club you'll have to find street parking or park in one of the nearby ramps, which is a little annoying. The ambience once inside, though, is really fun with numerous different decorations throughout each of the areas and rooms. And the service is great. The bar and restaurant are on the third floor. We started in the bar area and ordered just-okay cheese curds and a few drinks prior to dinner. Most of the family ordered the special old fashioned on the menu. Interestingly enough, there was not a consistent taste between them. I wonder if there were multiple bartenders or if they ran out of ingredients. Either way, the one that was different was not good. I ordered a wine and it was just fine. Once seated for dinner, we were given a dinner menu with both regular and rotating food options, and a few specials were verbally delivered. Unfortunately nobody was really blown away by their food. The baked cod fish fry was so dry my partner and I couldn't eat it, but at least the crab bisque and the baked potato were good. The fried cod had too much breading, and the person who ordered the medium rare steak frites was disappointed to receive steak that was actually medium. The nduja toast that came with the octopus item was the saving grace for what we ordered as it was delicious, although we couldn't find the octopus in our dish. The lemon creme brulee is amazing and even though the beignets are actually just cinnamon sugar donuts, the kids loved them. There are so many better restaurants in Madison that I'm not sure we need to visit for dinner again. The membership may be worth it for people who want to rent out some of the various rooms or maybe some of the other menu items are better, but we certainly do not see a need to join. It was fun to be able to experience the different areas and I can see why people may be interested in visiting. Especially when you can sit on the outdoor patio overlooking the capitol building, which we did not do in the cold weather.”

“One of my favorite venues, they have incredible lighting for photographers to get very well lit shots. They have seating sections so you can sit and sip on a drink, or a very large dance floor so you can be up and close to the performance.”

“The older I get the more so appreciate small event locations to listen to live music. The Bur Oak is perfect! Great acoustics in the building! Listened to Skerryvore, out of Scotland, last night! They also can be reserved for private events!”

“Enjoyed the scampi, although it was a little spicier than expected. The chicken parm was just fair. The chicken was mostly breading and dry, there wasn't enough sauce, and the noodles were very dense and chewy. My husband and I split both the dishes we ordered and we both only took a few bites of the chicken parm and had the rest boxed up. Not sure we'll get back to it, maybe we'll add more sauce at home and try it again. Service was great. We said that we planned to share our dishes and everything came up "pre-split," with no added charge. We very much enjoyed the complimentary (special occasion) cheesecake!”

“I attend Blackhawk Church, and we use the Upper House for our downtown location. We were formerly using the Magestic Theater. A little trivia: The space the Upper House occupies use to be a Food Court.”

“My group travel company, sewgreat tours, stayed last weekend at the hotel. I have been in business for 30 years and this is the best welcome we have ever had; they even brought out the red carpet. I would highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are big, the beds are so comfortable, breakfasts we're great and different everyday. They have golf clubs for their putting green and basketballs for their basketball court. The staff is very accommodating. The hotel is next to a hyvee grocery and a target.”

“As a former kid of Legacy Academy, i thought I’d give my two cents. Yes, it can be dirty and smelly in the play area, but that’s to be expected in a place where kids are free to run around and play and get sweaty as they please. I didn’t really mind it much when i was younger, all i was paying attention to was what thing i should play on next, but it can be hard to ignore if you’re not a kid playing around. Basically, don’t expect it to be spotless. With how many kids play in Legacy Academy daily, no wonder it smells like gym socks sometimes. That’s what happens when you let a bunch of kids loose to go play in a place like this ? they get sweaty and stinky. I do remember that as dirty as it did get sometimes, it would always be cleaned. Maybe not right away, but by my next visit whatever mess was there last time had been completely cleaned. If you’re really concerned about germs, maybe just bring some hand sanitizer for after your party! (and of course wash hands!)”

“Beautiful Historic Hotel with nice rooms. Very pleasant staff and a big Thank You to Judy. She went out of her way to make sure my friends and I have everything we needed...even some tools to work on a motorcycle. Breakfast was delicious and our server was excellent. They truly deserve more than 5 stars. Can't wait to come back in the fall.”
