“Hands down, the best hardware store in Madison—period. After visiting three other hardware stores with no luck, I came here and met Shawn—no one else was nearly as helpful. I needed help with an aluminum post and threading twist locks. Shawn immediately stopped what he was doing and took the time to help me find exactly what I needed. He even helped me secure the product onto my post right there in the store, making sure everything would work perfectly for me. He went above and beyond, and I’m genuinely in awe of the experience. Harbor Freight is now my go-to for everything. And shout-out to Chad at checkout—he brought the energy and was awesome too!”
“Out of this world service. I'll never go anywhere else. They have anything you need and if not, they'll find it. Always friendly, so helpful. You literally feel like family. Small businesses like this are something you don't much find anymore.”
“I always get competent friendly service and they go above and beyond to help. They price-match identical items and helped me replace a defective tool (air compressor) without hesitation. Highly recommend.”
“Jim and his team are always ready to serve and know how to treat you right. Stoughton is fortunate to have such a great lumber yard and hardware store right in town.”
“OWEN @ Dorn’s Ace Hardware was so very helpful when I was looking for a battery for my lawnmower. When I called, he told me there was only one left, and Why?he would put it aside at the register for me. I had previously called all over town looking for the right size, so was very grateful for his assistance. When I arrived at the store, I went to speak with him to tell him how much I appreciated his help. Also - The price of this battery was a few hundred dollars less than another hardware store in my location !!!
I might add that I was very happy when Diego told me where I could go to recycle my old lawnmower battery ! I took it there immediately. Thanks, Diego !!”
“Isthmus hardware has it all! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and keeps the store well stocked. They always have what I need. A delightful local business in the heart of Madison!”
“At Genesis Painting, we’ve worked with our fair share of equipment pros, and Todd at Badger Spray is in a league of his own. He’s backed by a team of compressor commanders, sprayer whisperers, and repair wizards who know how to keep your gear in top shape. Whether it’s fixing a stubborn pump, recommending the right sprayer for your next big project, or just giving solid advice, Todd and his crew bring expertise and a no-nonsense approach. If your equipment needs some TLC or you’re in the market for upgrades, these are the folks to see. They just get it!”
“The staff was great and I found exactly what I needed to produce a homemade Yakitori Grill! I have to line the inside of the wood amd edges with heavy duty Aluminum foil.”
“These guys have a TON of stuff in the store front and that's not to mention what I'm sure they can order or have in back or the yard.
Any place can order stuff in or so can you with the magic of the internet. I recommend stopping in here if you are having trouble finding something that you'd prefer to just walk in and pick up specialty concrete tool-wise.
Their prices are comparable to other commercial concrete equipment etc. Suppliers in the area.
I found a specific control joint trowel here that other shops either didn't have or didn't have in stock.
Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable of the products they sell, or at least the things I was looking for.
Will be returning in the future.”
“Great people, but I purchased a brand new sthil chainsaw a day ago, after I broke it in I went to use it and the chain was on backwards. Not a huge deal but.. little details.”

“I've always gotten good service here. I ordered all of my building materials for a three season porch project, and the person at the lumber desk was friendly and made sure I had all the stuff I'd need for a standard project like that. As for the hardware store, they have all the hardware store stuff you'd expect, plus a surprisingly large selection of charcoal and grilling equipment. I've also special ordered some things and they showed up fast. This is my go-to place in Stoughton.”
“Henry from the lumber department was so so helpful to me. He was extremely nice and gave great advice to help me on my home project. 5 stars! Henry should get a raise!”
“Drew and his people are great. Everyone I’ve met there is focused on keeping businesses moving and making sure you get what you’re really paying for. Jay is a great resource and Brandy has awesome service.”
“I went into Home Depot late at night after a full evening of gardening, looking for additional wood for my garden beds. Mitchal was one of the few people available to help and he was so incredibly attentive and helpful! He listened intently to my needs and provided exceptional customer service.”
