I came into town from out of state to be with my family. I called Max Creek on Wednesday 1/17/2024 to reserve time for my granddaughter and I to shoot. They didn't answer at 9:10a so I left a message asking them to call me so I can reserve a time. Today is 1/24/2024 and I am leaving tomorrow and they still have not called. I won't consider using them next time I'm here.

Highly recommend shooting instruction with Raleigh. As a first time handgun shooter I was fairly intimidated although eager to learn. In just an hour Raleigh walked me through gun safety all the way to my first box of 50 rounds on target.I felt like I was finally getting comfortable and decided to try a different gun with two more boxes of ammo.Let’s just say I’m hooked!

My partner and I have bought firearms here and gotten pistol training from Raleigh. Fantastic local business with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can't recommend them enough! Super LGBT+ friendly which is rare for a gun store. I've always felt safe and welcomed here and highly recommend other queer people to come here to learn about or buy firearms.

Nice Range, little parking due to popularity, but Culvers is just across the street with plenty of space. The gun shop offers new and used firearms to include some hard to source offerings. I'll be back soon!

I have been going to Max Creek for eight years once moving to Wisconsin. Great staff, service, and sales. Never really needed gun smithing work or repairs so I can't speak to their smithing ability. But everything else has been awesome! Ex-Military, Husband, Father, Old Man....

This is how a gun shop/range should be operated. I have been in many before and this one is by far my favorite. Professional, knowledgeable and engaging staff. Clean and fair priced gun section/selection and range. They are responsive and diligent/organized with FFL and NFA transfers (I have done both with them). As well as one of the few places to have a SS kiosk in the county. Heavily recommended by professionals in the community for a good reason. As a resident of Madison it is out of town (about 20 minutes), but worth it every time for the piece of mind and service provided in relation to the other stores in the surrounding county. If more shops where like this then I personally believe a lot more people would take up/get into the fire arms community. Its my primary recommendation for the area and will remain so until proven otherwise (which is very unlikely in my opinion).

Stopped in randomly while passing through town. I didn't use the range, but there were people there using it, and listening in they were certainly having a good time and the gentleman running the range was very friendly. He even came over to welcome us to the shop once he was free. The other gentleman working the gun counter was busy with a customer, but once he was free he was respectful as well. He was very helpful in some discussions we were having over high end flashlights in stock. For a smaller shop they had a very good selection of firearms, from mid-higher range (in my point of view) which was really nice to see. Next time I'm through the area I will certainly stop by again with more intent.

Was lied to about my FFL transfer fee.I called the store to ask what their transfer fee was and was told long guns are $25 & pistols are $50. This matters because I was buying a cheap 22lr rifle on a Christmas sale that they don't carry and couldn't get. When I go to pick up my rifle they say it's $50! I told them who ever answered your phone told me $25 for long guns. He replied oh yeah there's a new guy that maybe was confused. I've been in customer service my whole life. If you're going to admit you guys made a mistake honor your word and take care of the customer. Take the $25 loss and gain a customer that will spend hundreds with you in the future. I never paid more than $25 back home for a transfer fee, $50 is extortion. Then he refused to release my long gun to me because I had an out of state license. Which is illegal and it was NOT a pistol which then would be different. I could not take home my rifle until he forced me to get a WI drivers license which is the most absurd thing I've ever heard of! No other FFL in WI requires this! Then to make matters worse they gave me a hard time about picking up my own brass that I bought in for my pistol. I've always been allowed to take my own brass home at every range I've been to. Needless to say I now gladly drive twice the distance to go to Deerfield Pistol Center to buy all my firearms and range time. They are much more friendly and professional.
