Wintergreen Lake Resort offers a perfect getaway from the city with no TVs, phones, or cell phone service. The rooms are clean and come with pots, pans, silverware, a refrigerator, and an oven/stove, though the beds are noted to be very old. The lake has nice fish, there are fun trails, and a nice community fire pit. The associated Wintergreen Bar & Restaurant is probably the best fish fry in the Northwoods, featuring a Friday night menu of walleye, haddock, or frog legs with packer potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, and bread. The food is absolutely incredible, top notch, and delicious, with very reasonable prices for the home-cooked portions. The place is appropriately small, so getting there early is advised. It offers beautiful views overlooking the lake, down home family hospitality, and ice-cold beer. The owners are awesome and hilarious, contributing to a great time. Be aware that it is cash only.
