I hit some rocks with the bottom of my boat and literally thought I was going to throw up when I saw the damage. I called John at S&R and he had me bring it out for an estimate and told me to leave it right then and there so he could start the repair right away. I had the boat back within four days (including a Sunday) and I’m super happy with the quality of work. The repair is practically flawless and the color match is absolutely flawless. I feel the repair cost was reasonably priced. Honestly, I would have paid double because I was so distraught over the damage that I caused. I can’t express my appreciation enough that John fit me in right away (only losing 1 weekend of boating in this incredibly short boating season). I’m attaching photos so let them speak for themselves. Highly recommended. Thank you John! So glad to have this expertise in our area. We were looking to buy a 1997 sailboat that was in overall very good condition, but had one potentially worrying crack in the liner. We knew it could be indicative of greater structural damage, but didn't have the knowledge/tools/etc. to determine this. So, we arrived at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday (S & R closes at noon on Saturdays), and John was more than willing to drop what he was doing and look at our boat, 30 minutes before closing...on a beautiful Saturday...
I instantly noticed (and was comforted by) his obvious understanding of and passion for boats (he builds his own, in addition to servicing others'). He told us he thought the fix was superficial and would be at most $200. He also took the time to talk about a worst-case scenario, how he would find out if it existed, and what it would cost (much, much more - maybe thousands). All very matter-of-fact - not pushy.
Turned out it was the smallest possible problem, and John charged us $150. I was thankful for his expertise and honesty. In this business, people could easily pull the wool over your eyes, speak condescendingly to you, etc., but that was not the case here. Work was done in a week and looked great. I hope they stay in business as long as we have sailboats because I don't want to look elsewhere for service like this! We live in the Green Bay area, but will happily drive to Pewaukee to visit S & R Marine.
