If a mechanic installed a lug bolt or stud that’s too short, it’s a safety issue because it may not hold the wheel securely to the hub. Here’s what that means for responsibility and next steps:
⚠️ Why It’s a Problem
A short bolt can’t fully engage the threads in the hub, meaning the wheel might loosen or even come off while driving.
It can also damage the hub threads or cause uneven pressure on the wheel.
If it led to vibration, damage, or unsafe driving, the mechanic is liable for that mistake.
✅ What the Mechanic Should Do
Replace all incorrect bolts with the proper length ones immediately.
Inspect and repair any damage to the hub or wheel caused by the short bolt (at their expense).
Torque all bolts to spec and verify the wheel is seated correctly.
If driving on it caused further issues (e.g., warped rotor, damaged threads, or alignment problems), those should also be fixed or compensated by the shop.
💬 What You Can Do
Go back to the shop as soon as possible and explain what you noticed.
Ask them to show you the correct OEM bolt length and how they’ll fix it.
If they refuse or dismiss it, you can file a complaint with your state’s consumer protection agency or the Better Business Bureau.

0 stars if it wouldve been possible
The guy that speaks on the voicemail message is beyond rude! I couldn’t even explain to him what seemed to be wrong with my vehicle. He is not a good business man. I would not recommend this place to any of my female friends ! 0 STARS!!!!
