Kinnickinnic State Park is a simple but well-regarded state park offering ten miles of large, well-maintained hiking trails, though they are essentially unpaved. The highlight for many is the decent-sized beach, which provides access to the confluence of the St. Croix and Kinni rivers, a very cool place to swim, though the steep paved trail to it and presence of boaters can make swimming less ideal. The park features a beautiful, bee-teeming prairie on its northern side, while the forest trails offer a fairly standard experience, often becoming too buggy in summer. Popular marked trails include the pink, yellow, green, and beloved red trail, the latter popular with bikers and hikers alike, featuring large gorges and eagles. Several unofficial trails exist, leading to floodplains and overlooks, and are worth exploring for the more adventurous, though some are very overgrown. The park provides a clean vault toilet and a sledding hill for winter. However, the park office is understaffed with limited hours, and the self-pay station does not dispense annual permits directly, which is not the most convenient. While the actual trails can be a bit boring and sometimes confusingly signed, the area is praised for its awesome views over the river delta, serene beauty, and as a nice, quiet place. It is considered a nice area to explore, though somewhat small. Dogs are allowed in all areas except the beach and picnic areas.
Lovely State Park with beach and very nice hiking trails. Great overlook.

I just needed a break on a lousy day and this was the perfect place to walk away some stress.

4.5/5, Absolutely beautiful, there’s a beach that you can swim off of with a decent amount of walking to get too, the actual trails are a bit boring, and hard to find the falls. There are some off trail paths that can bring you to amazing views.
