Last year I had my taxes done at this Jackson Hewitt location by James Lindquist at the Saint Croix Falls Wal-Mart and was extremely satisfied so I decided to give them my business again this year - big mistake! Last year my taxes were $65 ($115 if you don't count the new client special offer.) This year my taxes jumped to $428! That's a 658% increase, 372% if you don't count the new client special offer! To add insult to injury, I had an appointment scheduled at noon on Monday at the Saint Croix Falls office and somebody called asking if they could reschedule my appointment. I called them back and left them a voicemail stating that I would like to stick with my Monday appointment but could be flexible with the time and could go to the Pine City office if I had to but would prefer the Saint Croix Office as I was very satisfied with the gentlemen that did my taxes last year. I kept receiving appointment reminder texts and emails and assumed that we were still on for the appointment. Thankfully right before I left my mom called around and found out that the Saint Croix Falls location was completely closed down and I had to go to the Pine City location. So I almost drove all the way down from Grantsburg to Saint Croix Falls 60 miles round trip for nothing! Turns out the Pine City location was open so I went over there. Jackie seemed to do a good job on my taxes but then slammed me with a $428 bill due to having to file a "Schedule C." She also stated that she "could've done my taxes last year in 15 minutes." While my taxes were indeed simpler last year than this year, if I remember correctly they took almost as long - about an hour. It was maybe another 15 minutes to half an hour this year, partly due to me forgetting some paperwork and having to look it up on my phone but mostly due to her printer having issues receiving the paperwork I was trying to email her regarding my real estate educational expenses and her not having an email address I could send the documents to. I don't think another 15 minutes to half an hour and a little bit of extra paperwork justifies a $363 increase of 658% especially after all the trouble I experienced! She said that was AFTER giving me 30% off for having to switch locations, which I was already supposed to have for scheduling an appointment early! She said before that it was supposed to be over $600 which is absolutely insane! ($612!) During our appointment, she also had a mug with mari*uana leaves all over it on the counter which I though was rather unprofessional.

It was a very comfortable appointment, was way too talk to and understand. Made sure we received all credits we have coming, asked us questions and we were easily able to answer him. Just an all around fun and easy experience for getting my taxes done which we all hate to deal with. Thanks so much.
